I'm looking for the 1984 release of Kansas "Point of Know Return." No remasters or later pressings please. I HAVE the remaster, and it sucks. I'm looking for the original. I will pay a good price to get it.

Hit any used cd stores in your area if you have the time. I see these all the time, the next time I'm in my local I'll look. Maybe even tonight when I'm on my way home from work. You have a catalog number?

I've seen that CD at Half Price Books here in Kansas City several times. I just added it to my list I keep on my phone with a note that you are looking for it. I've got an excellent LP of that album in my collection, so I've never bought the CD version.

I think it is ZK-34929. I have been checking the local hastings "used" bin, no luck yet.

I found one! While it's still not a stellar recording by any measure, it beats the crap out of the so-called "remaster."

Hey Steve, I have the ZK34929 CD, as well as the "half speed mastered, extended range recording" vinyl from CBS Master Sound records (copyright date 1977). Haven't listened to it in ages, but your thread has me wanting to spin it up. I seem to remember the vinyl had better depth and clarity than the ZK34929 CD. Other Kansas vinyl I have: Two for the Show, Monolith, Audio-visions. Might just have to do a Kansas listening fest! Always liked their distinctive sound.

Absolutely, the vinyl is certainly better. I wish PoKR was done as well as Leftoverture on CD. Leftoverture is very satisfying on CD.
