Any Tea lovers ?

Tony,
I am a coffee and tea drinker myself. I primarily drink only Vietamese and French coffee, mixed. All the other stuff here is like coffee flavored water. The clay teapots are my choice. Teavana does offer a variety of teapots as well as 'green teas' among others. I am not a fan of metal(any kind) of teapots. I have collected different types of teapots that are sure collectors, such as a dual layer clay teapot. The outer layer, you pour in hot water, close the opening and the inner layer is for the tea. I have not been able to find this type of clay teapot anywhere. I was fortunate enough to get one while visiting North Vietnam over a decade ago. I will have to go back to my hometown(OKC) and get some pics for you of collection. Now, the tea. I also only drink Asian tea. The best are the fresh ones, which I was also lucky enough to experience while in Asia. That is the good news. The bad news, I have no clue what the American names are for them. I only know the Viet/Chinese names. Let me try and find out the English equivalent.
On a last note. Tea is good for you, in many ways.

My favourite is Nine Bend Black Dragon Tea http://angelinasteas.com/teaProfileL3/black/9BlendBlackDragonBlack.html
No matter how long you let it steep, it never gets bitter.
I use an infuser that just sits in the cup and the leaves have plenty of room to steep. One cup at a time. http://www.strandtea.com/Tea-Accessories-and-Gifts/Tea-Glass-Tigers-Infusers-Strainers-Tea-Balls-Sipping-Cups-Gaiwans-Tins/Tea-Logic-Stainless-Steel-Basket-Infuser.html
I also like Darjeeling (1st flush being my favourite).

They have various types of loose leaf tea to steep. No matter what your taste is the only way to go is to steep your loose leaf tea. Most teas can be used 2-3 times without loosing much flavor.SDA2BTL

I love tea! I'm not as into it as much as you aficionados, but I have Lipton green tea superfruit with acai and blueberry or green tea with honey every weekday.
My wife is way into it. She recently just gave me the talk on the difference between a kettle and a tea pot. who knew? apparently all you guys. I'm late to the party
I did used to be into jerba mate in college, which is technically a type of tea. I even had my own leather wrapped gourd and silver filter straw. A guy on my soccer team from Spain got me hooked on it.design is where science and art break even. -
Have to be careful with some of the bottled teas. Most anything bottled (tea, soda, juice) is going to be loaded with sugar. Some juices and teas are even worse than the sodas in that regard. Snapple at least uses sugar instead of corn syrup, but it still contains quite a lot of it. If the first two ingredients are water and corn syrup or sugar, might want to reconsider it.
The reason they put so much sugar in the drinks is because we are instinctively pre-programmed to like that sort of thing, and they know it will sell because of it. Which also means it can be very hard to give up the overly sweetened drinks. But it is worth it.
If you want to go for the diet stuff but also want to avoid chemicals, look for things sweetened with stevia, also commercially known as Rebiana or Truvia. It can have a slightly bitter aftertaste, but it is completely natural. Some studies have even shown that it can reverse the effects of diabetes.

I would still caution to use Stevia in a limited way. While I'm aware of the studies that show it's benefit to diabetics, I'm also aware of the other studies that show a compound in it that can cause cancer and produce lighter weights in the births of the rats they tested it on. I do find it interesting however that Stevia has been around for almost 100 years, but the big sugar cane industry kept them out.
Refined sugar is what you want to avoid or cut back on. It's basically empty calories with no health benefit. I use organic raw Honey, same calories but has some health benefits. Also organic raw maple syrup, more expensive than Mrs Buttersworth, but no high fructose corn syrup.
If you think about it, modern medicine is mostly derived from plant based material. The chinese have been using plants as medicine for thousands of years. Maybe mother nature has provided for us in more ways than we readily see. I tend to gravitate to more natural foods, like honey, as nature intended.
I was thinking about man, as created, and what he ate. Don't ask me why I was thinking about that, my brain just drifts off at times. Anyway, since our body's where not created then to even eat cooked food, what did they eat ? Berry's, nuts, raw meat, raw fish, fruits, maybe wild vegatables. Fire didn't come along for some time. Taking into consideration evolution, and all that entails, one has to wonder if our bodies where even ment to run on the high sugar content, cooked meats of today. Which brings up another topic, I believe that a good portion of todays medical problems, sickness, is food related. Gene pool aside, because we all know that one person who drinks like a fish, eats all the wrong junk, smokes like a chimney, and lives to be 102.HT SYSTEM-

I like this tea a lot: http://www.maxvite.com/315/3821/Celestial_Seasonings_Peach_Apricot_Honeybush_Tea/product.html
Also like Chai teas very much. Most brands are good for Chai.
For iced tea I like this one for a less sweet tea: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://cdn.c.photoshelter.com/img-get/I0000Tn2Zc4zOcWI/s/750/honest-mint-tea.jpg&imgrefurl=http://muggphoto.photoshelter.com/image/I0000Tn2Zc4zOcWI&usg=__U2-PyPKAsFAQVkELfDOy1Gd_BYA=&h=750&w=508&sz=59&hl=en&start=17&zoom=1&tbnid=U9Aazq6Fa4mNEM:&tbnh=141&tbnw=96&ei=QxwyT5OSEIeRiQKUmYXECg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhonest%2Btea.%2Bbottled%2Bmint%2Bgreen%2Biced%2Btea%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch%26prmd%3Divns&itbs=1

Taken to the extreme, you've got guys that buy things and do things because they are afraid of anyone thinking that they are anything less than the most "macho" they can be. You know the type, buying a diesel dually not because they need to tow a fifth-wheel trailer, but just to be seen driving it to work, a.k.a. douchebag posers, overcompensators, or homosexuals in denial.
Tony drink racoon piss if you like it who cares what anyone thinks.
REGARDS SNOWWell, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all -

Yeah I heard about the study that said stevia derivatives contained mutagens, but I also read that the study was discredited because the testing technique would have also determined that distilled water contained mutagens. At least that's what the Wikipedia says--I haven't looked into it very much. The way I figure it, it's plant-based and it's been used in Japan for years without any red flags going up, so I'm OK with it. YMMV of course. I'd much rather use something natural than aspartame or saccharin. I flat refuse to use chemical sweeteners.
I agree that we weren't meant to eat all the things we eat nowadays. The problem is that our bodies are naturally programmed to like sweets and fats, because before modern agriculture, you never knew when your next meal was going to be or what it was going to be, so junk food was a way of storing up energy for later. Now we can get food whenever we want it, but we are still programmed to respond to sweets and fats. Ends up being too much of what should be a good thing.

Moderation is the key. I admit to drinking half a Frappucino every now and then, but it's a rare treat, not something I do all the time. I also really like Fentiman's ginger beer. Oh my god that stuff is good. Thankfully it's too expensive to drink all the time.

Yeah man, me too, but I get as unrefined sugar as I can. After watching a special on sugar, and whats done in the process of refining it, you never want to put it into your mouth again. I suspect that would be true of alot of foods if we had a visual of how it was made.HT SYSTEM-

Maybe this was to me? The Lipton superberry, and green tea with honey I'm talking about is in a box with the teabags. I know there are some bottled ones, but that's not what I drink. I'm not a sweetened drink kind of guy. Can't drink soda, juice, sweet tea, etc.
Liptons bag teas typically taste "stale" to me, especially the plain green. The superfruit ones are pretty good, IMO. Of course the ones my wife gets are all much better. We have a number of teavanas and other such stores all over the place around here.design is where science and art break even. -

Deer Park? we must've been neighbors
I recently moved from palatine, near Hicks & Dundee. I was adjacent to Deer Park Forrest Preserve and about 2 miles from the shopping center.
I definitely will do that. I know the Lipton is not great quality, but I enjoy it and I can keep a box in my glove compartment for when I have meetings or other dealings.design is where science and art break even. -

Great thread! I've actually been wanting to get a very nice tea set for home. Good info here!
I'm actually more of a coffee drinker right now and shop at the local place for all my whole bean action! Baltimore Coffee and Tea rocks! Hands down, this is my favorite coffee of all and is their most popular...
http://www.baltcoffee.com/products/regular-coffee/black-raven-blend-tm
I have Cuisinart coffee maker that has the bean grinder built in. Fresh brewed every morning! No excuses!
