Pfft! Chrysler! Yeah! They are going to put America back to work by making the engines in Mexico, and assembling their crappy cars in Canada! Give me a break!

Well, I for one am certainly glad that Newbie308 completely understood the message that Clint was delivering and that it had the same positive, emotional impact on him as it did me.

I'm sorry! I shouldn't start a new week off by voicing my political disgust! Please forgive me, my inner Republican is just so sick of the hollywood BS!! Like Clint Eastwood is hurting because of the bad economy! Like he would ever take a walk downtown at night in the Detroit he is so proud of! Give me a break!

Sometimes a commercial is just a commercial.

But you're right I'm sure Eminem sold more cars with his advertisement than Clint will

Obviously you missed the whole point he was making then.

Nowhere did he asert he himself was hurting, yet the fact that you took it that way says alot.

My inner conservative thinks you have no clue what is going on, and until you face the fact that both parties are infested by rats and cockroaches, you will remain clueless.

The truth is that this was a commercial, nothing more and nothing less. Mr. Eastwood is about as solid a conservative there is these days in Hollywood, and I thank him for his patriotism, and his support for an industry and a city suffering through hard times. I hope they sell every car they can build.

I don't know if you can plant Clint solely in the conservative camp. From what I can tell, he's planted in the common sense camp of solutions and expectations.

Having seen what he did as mayor of a single small town, full of liberals yet, I have a new respect for the man. Anyone who gets a chance, stay a few days in Carmel. It's like Pleasantville, no kidding.....and that town love's the crap out him too.

There is no one in the movie industry that I enjoy more than Clint. That being said, why should anyone bow at the altar of big business just because a celeb is pitching it? Does that make it truer, or more factual? A Celeb is pitching it so it must be true, they're paid to do this don't forget.

EH.....Clint doesn't do commercials just to pitch something. He believes in the american spirit, not car companies. He even was against the bailouts of car companies. Says if a CEO can't figure out how to make the company profitable, he shouldn't be the CEO. Not exactly profound, but obviously absent in practice.

While I am big Clint fan, and do get the "America is tough" pitch, it was after all a Chrysler commercial designed to play on American pride to sell cars. It wasn't Clint paying for time to air a pep talk, no matter how much he might feel and believe the message, it was just a good, well thought out add.

I won't post it here for obvious reasons, but if you You-Tube search Limbaugh Eastwood, you will find a version of the commercial I wish they would have aired instead.

    jephdood, love the pic! Thanks.

I'm a conservative and I don't see what all the hubbub is about. It's a Superbowl half-time commercial, they are meant to be over-the-top. Sure there is some patriotism, maybe a hint of some political speech in there, but the ad's main purpose is to sell cars. Who cares? In the end it's Clint, and I thought hearing him say, "The world is gonna hear the roar of our engines" was pretty cool.

I am, obviously, not a conservative. But I do agree that this commercial is just a commercial, not some cryptic manipulative plot by the left. It's vintage "Clint" after all. And regardless of your political affiliations you have to respect this guy!

As someone from Michigan, I just don't relate Clint Eastwood to automobiles. I liked the commercial, although I remember thinking while it was playing that it played more as a re-election video than a Chrysler commercial. I also don't know if this is true or not, but I read that the same company that did the commercial, also worked on Obama's election campaign.

BTW, I bet most Detroiters don't feel that they are in halftime, more like sidelined.

I think that the only way the world is "going to hear the roar of our engines" is if we get a different President.

Right now all the world hears is the girly-man whining and fluttering of hands from a smug but clueless fool who can't figure how to start his Prius but is extremely proud of his "Coexist" bumper sticker.

I'm not sure why the right is so enraged by this commercial. The "Anointed One" is doing a great job. Clint needs to stop complaining and just let Obama get the job done. Hell, if not for Obama I wouldn't have been able to purchase the stereo I have today. He is to thank for everyone's success.

Oh....how I long for the good old days of the Geo. W. Bush administration, he did a lot more for the USA than Obama has......

Clint.....he used to co-star with an orangutan.....emulating Ronnie, maybe ? You decide !
