RTi A9 Still a Current Speaker?

Haven't seen any deals on the RTiA9 in a while- at least no specials deals on PD/eBay.

Am I correct that they are a current model? Otherwise any recent new Polks worth recommending? Will be using a 120 WPC amp that can do 2,4,8 ohms.

Newegg had these on sale in December for about $700 a pair :surprised:, but have since jacked their prices up to $1800 a pair, which is more than Polk sells them for. Although I would be weary buying from Newegg, as I think they use UPS so would be asking for some dings and dents, if not worse.

you won't see the replacement for a while. In fact, there is not much difference between it and the one it replaces. Same components, just different better looking box. The A9 is great, I am not sure what else can be done to improve it without approaching Lsim series.

Thanks. I am tracking these speakers on camelcamel... and I noticed that they were on sale back in December. Newegg increased the price of these even when they are out of stock. I will continue looking around, but for sure I will not pay $1800 for them.

Anyone selling them? Please PM me.

The RTi A9's are really popular on more than a few boards I'm on. Therefore, no one needs to lower the price on the them. When I ordered a pair from Crutchfield, the were $750 a speaker with orders over $500 getting free shipping and a Polk PSW111 for free. I sold the extra sub for money.

I think the same deal is still current.

Yep, the free subwoofer for the purchase of 499+ on Polk products is still available. But, Cruthfield doesn't have the RTi A9's "Black" on stock. :o(

    Thanks for handling that VR3.

I called Polk to inquire if they had any knowledge whether any special deals on the RTiA9 can be expected anytime soon but of course, they couldn't give an answer other than to say "keep an eye out". I only saw one pair of factory refurbed on PolkAudio ebay which was sold within a day for $995 including shipping. However I could buy a standard new pair for $1,500. I'll just keep watching.

Really?!?!? Thanks for the input. I purchased a pair of RTi8 at $300.00 from them. But, I decided to returned, save a bit of money and go for the RTi A9's.

I subscribed to Fry's email for offers, so I will keep an eye on that. No luck during Presidents Day. Next stop Memorial Day......man that's a very long wait :o(

That was the discontinued RTi 12 this past Black Friday, not the RTi A9. Or at least in San Diego that is what they had for black friday.

You are correct and actually, RTi12's are back on sale @ Fry's for $798 (pair).

In my case, I will wait for a good deal on RTi A9's (eventually stores will have them back on stock...........I hope!).

Is the main difference between the RTi12 and RTiA9 primarily the cabinet style?

Keep watching Newegg on the weekends. I picked up a pair for 999.99, but they only seem to run these sales on the weekends. They do use UPS and my boxes were pretty beat up but fortunately the speakers were in perfect shape

Some will say not really, though I think they sound very close. If you can land a deal on a pair of RTi12s, go for it. You could always go RTi10s with a good sub, or LSi15s as an alternate.

Tankman, indeed is a great deal! Specially due to we are talking about brand new speakers, with full 5 year warranty from Polk and you are totally right on the free shipping deal.....the boxes of these babies are huge!

I personally purchased a pair of them from the egg a couple of weeks ago (they were running the same deal on a Sunday). So, I pulled the trigger on them...........I'm really glad I did.

Now, I have to be honest with you. When I arrived home and saw the boxes at my front door, I was really scared about how the look of the boxes. Let me explain; it seems like they traveled all around the world until my home, boxes were dented, scratched, with some cuts, holes on it, etc.

After the shock of seeing the boxes on that condition, next reaction was ......I need to take several pics of them just in case a claim will be required. However, luck was on my side that day; everything inside was in perfect condition....not a single issue with the speakers.

I'm currently on the break in process (yep, there is a lot of people that is telling me it is not needed. But, I don't want to mess things up with these babies).

By the way, I am driving them using an Emotiva XPA-3 amp.

    Cheers!

You're boxes look good compared to what UPS delivered to me. I couldn't believe that the speakers had no problems compared to the way the boxes looked.

Really!?!?! Glad to hear your speakers were OK at the end. In my case, I was at least expecting that the grills will be messed up, but even those were in perfect condition.

The guy that delivered mine was one of those companies that will only deliver if you're home and they won't even attempt it unless they know for sure you will be.

A huge moving truck shows up, my A9's are covered in plastic and strapped to a pallet. The boxes were in great shape when they showed up but one of the Styrofoam stays inside was fractured. No damage to anything inside speaker wise.
