Super Bowl Picks.... Giants v Pats

Brady's career is over! Belichick is OK but in no way a "great coach".
Except Ocho...1/1 is a solid game. Had the Pats won, he should have received the MVP!
As far as Brady's career being over. Not by a long shot. He is still one of, if not THE most feared QB's in the game. You don't get that way for being on a downward spiral. A bad game is a bad game. Not much to argue about here. It's too bad too, the Pats D actually showed up to play.Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!! -

Who gets your vote, besides Al Michaels who I believe is ineligible?
Any one of Eli's receivers, his entire offensive line, the best running back I've seen since the Emmitt Smith/Barry Sanders days and the defensive ends that had Brady running scared the whole game.
Eli had a good day because his receivers are the best in the league. He got the numbers he did because Cruz and Manningham are smart players. Not through any fault of his own.
Don't believe me? Look at Eli's numbers when he didn't have the best set of receivers in the league and his O-line was beat-up and injured. He can't think on his feet or command a team like his brother can. He didn't deserve the MVP, sorry.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

The biggest problem with Eli is that he doesn't have the general disposition of the great quarterbacks, but there's no arguing that the guy has been clutch in the 4th quarter and yesterday was the same.
Of course Eli didn't have his numbers earlier on without those receivers, but I'd argue it has less to do with the receivers. I'd argue that it's just him getting better over time, it happens all the time (Montana, Elway, Peyton, Aikman...how many of those guys improved as time went on...all of them). He has great receivers, or he's made those guys great receivers, which one is it? A convincing argument can be made either way, which came first the chicken or the egg?
He can't think on his feet or command a team? He was changing plays like crazy at the line in the 4th quarter and just making brilliant calls, they likely won because of his play calling at the line. I'm a big Peyton fan as well (moreso than Eli) and I would agree that he's not on his brother's level and doesn't have the same commanding presence as Peyton, but he got it done.
Surely you can't argue on that throw to Manningham at the end that changed the game though. The degree of difficulty on that throw is up there and to make that throw in that situation in the game was great. People are talking about the catch, but even Manningham said after the game that throw was better than the catch.
Contrary to popular belief I actually think Brady played a good game as well, I mean they're basically a foot away from making that catch and winning the game at the end. When it was 4th and 15 or whatever on that last drive i just knew Brady was going to keep that drive going. I would argue that the play Brady made on that down was one of if not the best plays in the game, they just didn't win the game.
I don't think Eli had the game of his life or anything but if you have to give the MPV to ONE guy he seems like the most logical choice. -
No, Romo sucks too.
Cowboys got rid of Wade but kept Romo. Romo is a good strategist but not the best QB. He makes poor QB decisions but has an eye to read a defense. He just doesn't always make the best decisions and seems to doubt himself. He'll throw a bullet in to double coverage when he's got plenty of time but if he's on the run, he screws it up. he also fails under pressure and can never seem to keep any momentum going. Eli is a better QB than Romo.
But that throw to Manningham was honestly over thrown. Manningham's presence as an intelligent receiver is what gave him the advantage because he knew where he was, made a difficult catch and drug his feet before he got slammed out of bounds. If Eli had thrown the ball on the route he was supposed Manningham wouldn't have had to compensate.
That last quarter though, the Pats were panicking. You could see it on Brady's face. Eli was adjusting and the adjustments weren't all that brilliant. They just made it extra confusing for an already falling apart Pats.
As far as the Giants receivers being good, why do you think they bought them? Eli had no receiver corps to throw to. Well, at least not one that could compensate for him. You want to see what difference they make? Look at the average yards per catch and then look at the average yards after the catch. Eli does short dumps, slants and shunts to these guys and they pick up the rest of the yardage themselves. Eli doesn't hit the long ball as often as most would like to admit. Unless they go up against a team with a weak secondary D like the Cowboys. Manning, Cruz and Manningham picked them apart like they were plinking cans on a fence with a .22.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

All that matters now that the fat lady has sung for this season is that little brother now has bragging rights in the Manning clan, and he did it in his big brother's house. It's cool, it's going to be hard for Peyton to best Eli now. But, you know, there's no way to predict the NFL, Peyton might win a couple more with the Jets, who knows
I guess the pressure on Brady to get on the same pedestal with his idol Montana was too huge. After all Montana won 4 without losing any. And the 49ers is the only multiple-time winner without losing a Super Bowl, now that's a perfect record!Gears shared to both living room & bedroom:

Joe's still my boy. Fond memories of the old 49 ers and Jerry Rice who I think is one of the if not the greatest receiver of all time. Joe was the poster child for the 4th quarter comeback kid. Give that guy under a minute to score a touchdown, you could practically take it to the bank he would.
Too bad he turned out to be somewhat of a dick after his career ended. I was even surprised to see a few interviews with him this year. He and the NFL have some bad blood between them for some reason, not that I care. One of the best to ever play the game thats for sure.HT SYSTEM-

Yeah Bruce, except she's been yelling at receivers all season, not just at the Pats. She gets pretty wound up around playoff time and when that happens, 4 lettered words come out, and when that happens.....the dog goes upstairs, neighbors close their windows, the flowers wilt, the deer in the yard scramble, the birds ditch the feeder for a more quiet pasture, and her husband just throws another log on the fire, pours another glass of wine, and mumbles under his breath...." Your just like your father."HT SYSTEM-

Lol.
The little football that my wife watches, she spends most of it feeling bad for all the players that get hit. All you hear after every play is: "awwww, that had to hurt, why did he hit him so hard"?...
If they drop an easy pass: "awww, he must be under a lot of pressure, it's hard to do all that stuff with that much pressure"!
