There's a whole industry built around fake postal money orders, as well as bank money orders. Cashier's checks too. If that's what you're relying on, you're woefully misinformed. I do business via pp verified, and nothing else. That's at least harder to fake, since the account has to be tied to a bank account. Not saying that can't be faked, just that it's harder. And since my bank protects me again all forms of on-line fraud, it's the safest for me. YMMV.
just saying, 5 years ago i got burned on a deal using paypal, bought a rare record, paid thru paypal, the seller sends me the wrong disc, paypal said work it out with him, he wouldnt reply,

Paypal and Ebay have changed A LOT in 5 years.........not even the same environment. Might help if you actually read the current user agreements and protection guidelines, etc. Not even the same animal as 5 years ago.

Never had any issues with Ebay or PP, but then again I use very strong passwords on everything.

Only issue I've ever had was with my CC. Back in November someone got my CC# and used easy to find personal information to pose as me with my CC company. They changed all my security questions, contact information, address, etc. Then asked for and received a $15,000 credit line increase. Only way I found out about it was I wasn't able to log-into my on-line account and had to call in. Imagine being asked "Sir, did you make a $15,000 purchase on November 10th at "xyz" web site?".

They bought $15,000 worth of precious metals from a web site (gold, silver, etc). Really damn good idea if you ask me.

I did have a specific security question and answer setup on my account that I would only know the answer to. When I asked how it was possible to get though that they didn't have an answer for me. Really bugs me they have you supply answers to questions like "mother's maiden name, high school mascot, etc". All that kind of stuff is easy to find.

CC is always with me and I don't use it very often. I last used it on my motorcycle ride to S. Arizona. Only used it to pay for hotels so I'm guessing someone swiped the number. Trip was end of Sept, into early October. So it took them less than a month to track down all necessary information.

It happens to everyone at some point. Thankfully these yahoos haven't tried to open new accounts using my information. Once I close on my house I'm putting a fraud alert on credit ratings.

That, and the exact same thing could happen when paying with money orders since you have no buyer protection with those. Just saying...

Check it out see if it seems better. The biggest change is previously when using Paypal thru Ebay and there was a dispute and you were awarded a refund, it was subject to what the seller had in their paypal account. Now Paypal will pay (up to a certain dollar amount) and then go after the seller to collect. That was the biggest difference I noticed. There are other things too

They were able to increase the limit of the card by $15,000 ??? And then immediately use that $15K increase on ONE purchase ??? I don't know of any major creit card issuer that wouldn't immediately flag that and shut it down.
