Thread search advice?

New here, but not to audio or forums in general - I don't know where else to post this, but
is there a thread somewhere that gives CP noobs advice on how to thread search here?
I do fine at AK or DIYA, but I'm kind of surprised that entering "RTA 8T" or "MV 6510", for
example, turn up zip. I'm finding CP threads easier through Google Images than direct from here.
There must be a trick and I'd love to know what it is. Sorry this is in the wrong place, but
I'm finding no hints where else to post this question. Any help would be well appreciated.

If you've got a search string that's less than 4 characters long, the search function struggles.
If you use the wildcard symbol '*' things improve: SDA doesn't work; SDA* does turn up results. I notice your 2 examples both have 2-character parts (8T, MV)
Not sure if the * works for those. If you're searching for the MW6510 6.5" driver for those 8Ts, try RTA* MW6510 (or possibly RTA8T MW6510)
Welcome to Club Polk and good luck with your searching. Any particular info you're looking for? Now that you've got a thread going, couldn't hurt to ask.

Many thanks Jay! Maybe now I won't tear ALL my hair out by the roots.
I've got a background in pro audio and a decent set of various fab skills.
My 2 areas of vintage Polk interest are: 1) Getting the most from my RTA
8T's, and,
2) On the more radical side, exploring new ways of using the 6510's
in new ways (like maybe a cluster of 4 @ side in a TL, biamped to
large Heils at about 2.3K for instance). I don't even know the Mms of the
6510's yet, so I'm only guessing at this point they'd have what it takes to
keep up with the quickness of a Heil AMT. Still got homework to do there.
So if any relevant thread links come to mind, I'd be happy to scope them.
As for specific questions, all I can think to ask at the moment is:
I've heard that Polk can still come up with most parts for the vintage stuff -
A) Is that so?If so, how do I search for and order?
C) If so, does that include any of the PR's?
Once again, many thanks. -
I believe Polk still has the MW6510 for ordering. Vintage PRs are, I believe, out of stock/production--ebay or craigslist or the flea market here is where they can be found. You can call number at the top of the page (phone contact way more fruitful than trying to email) during business hours to check. Mention you're a Club Polk member and you get a discount and free shipping to the lower 48. Great customer service.
I'm not sure if the parameters of the various MW's have been published anywhere, so it might be "hope and check by ear" if you're using them for creative projects. If you want to maximize your 8Ts, you can also order upgrade tweeters from Polk (RDO-194 model, as the 8T had the SL-2000 tweeter); pushing it further you can replace the capacitors and resistors on the crossover. Crossover schematic can be found here.Jay

Well now, concrete advice I can actually use, schematics and all! What a concept.
It is much appreciated. -

That is the trick.
No PR's are available from Polk.Political Correctness'.........defined
