I was doing pick-ups in the truck this morning. When I got back and was backing into the loading/unloading bay, a red pick-up pulled in front of me. The guy gets out (so did I) and starts the spiel. He's got some "Apache" compressors and stuff like that in the back of the pick-up, all brand new, and his work up here in the northeast is finished. His company doesn't want to pay to have the "excess goods/equipment" shipped back to Texas. So I started laughing and asked him why he didn't just leave that PHONY stuff right in the bed of his pick-up for the ride back to Texas. I was still laughing when he departed the parking lot.

    Some scams never go away. The only web listings are the
    apache web site, and a few CL posters dumping them cheap.
    Should have pointed him to a pawn shop.

    Or told him you can get the same compressor for $50 less from Harbor Freight and at least they honor their warranties.

    You know why the White Van happens and happens again? 'Cause plenty keeps falling for it and nobody can do anything about it. Just like those politicians who spit out all kinds of nonsense promise to get into, you know, the White House :biggrin:

    A couple of summers ago I was driving back from my cabin and was stopped for directions by a guy in a white truck. He was pulling the same crap even out in rural cornfield IL. "Do you know how to get to .... oh by the way (same story George) we just finished a job blah blah and I have these extra generators"

    I just passed the main group of farmers for my area having a meeting about a half mile away. I said " I bet those guys over there can help you" AHAHA I sent that guy into the born here lived here my whole life crowd and a hornets nest he could have never anticipated lol. SUCKKA!

    He had reddish blond hair and I don't have a scalp that hue yet. He's better off with hurt feelings.
