Wish I Had Space For MY SDA2Bs

As the title reads I guess I am going to have to wait until one of the kids move out until I have room for my SDA2Bs. As good as they sound in my room I am sure they would really sing if I had them in a larger space. They now sit about 8-9 feet away from me, 7 feet apart, and one has to be about 2 feet away from the wall. And to beat it all the backs are about 2.5 feet from the wall. Still sound good but man I wish one of the kids would move out!

What size room are yours in?

LOL Chumlie. I believe you have a handle on the real world. One kid has a nice wide long room that would be ideal for the audio system. Maybe if I could make them think the upstairs was haunted!

Wife has mentioned making the garage a man cave but I really do not want to sink that much money into my audio system! Mighty nice of her to think that though.

I would rather spend the money on the garage renovation than try that brgman! Females can be hard to get along with if you cross them

HAhaha. "Its" a girl. Sounds like you have it figured out too!

In all seriousness a larger room would make me happier. I stood up behind my recliner a few nights ago and just the extra 1 foot or so and height changed the sound. What is your listening room dimensions?

One of the happiest days of my life was when my daughters moved out many years ago. One bathroom and 3 girls is just one of many things that just don't cut it.

That being said I've only recently found out how important proper set up is with sda's. Without it they're just another pair of speakers. I had one of mine 2' from a side wall and thought they sounded great. Then I moved it away another foot and found out how much I was missing. Good luck to you with your speakers and getting your kids out on their own as well.

I fully sympathize, my SDA's currently sit in a basement closet while my B.A. 100s do HT duty because I have a built in entertainment unit down there and the room is "narrow". But it's the only room the SDA's would work in. The only one with 14' of wall space. However, it's only 10' wide. So 20' x 10'. The width is not that conducive to SDA bass!

The Jolida is currently powering a set of JBL L/t towers from the '80s in another room. And I also need to get my Monitor 10As out of the closet as well. I'm going Marantz on those (2265).

We need bigger rooms. I have a lot of them but not many of adequate size!

We should start a counseling group for people like us. My room is odd shaped, wide at one end them slims at the other. I have the speakers at the wide end and my chair at the slim end. According to the owner's manual I almost in the range I need to be in. I really need to buy a new stand for me gear so that I can move the closer to the wall. At this time my cabinet looks like something you put your wardrobe in and is very deep which prevents me from placing them close to the back wall. If I did that now the cabinet would obstruct the baffles.

Well I just remedied something that will help I am sure of it. I had my left and right channel speakers opposite of what they should be. In the process of this rehabilitation and testing of my gear I just did not catch it. I remember switching them for a test and then my old-timers kicked in. Note to self: Harness your ADHD.

When I get the chance to listen at reference levels then I am sure everything will sound better.
