I was upgrading the foam gaskets and found on my 12 inch passive the back spider completely separated from the foam body and may have made matters worse with the adhesive , the orange goo usealy used for spiders and voice coil but the solvent did not like the Styrofoam, i am trying to evap the solvent and set the glue as fast as possible. what should i have used?
so far mine is not ruined at the time of this post but are these still available? it's for an SDA 1B

As you found out lots of glues (I think mainly solvent based) are bad for foam. I would go to an arts and crafts store that sells styrofoam and ask them what to use. Don't know what the spider is made from, but it'll have to be compatible with that too and be able to withstand movement.
Good luck!"Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
I have used cyanoacrylate (super glue) to fix this problem in several speakers including some vintage Polk passives. If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

Regular super glue will eat the foam, but there is a foam safe version available at hobby shops that do RC airplanes. Just ask for foam safe C.A. glue.
Not sure this will fix the problem but it won't eat the foam.________________

I used Elmers White Glue. It worked fine. I inspected the passive radiator about a year after the repair, and all was fine. There was no concern about melting the foam radiator and the glue was absorbed in the woven spider.

I managed to stabilize the glue with a fan and thank you for the e-bay link and bought the passive radiator. thanks for the help and will be off to the craft store just so i have some glue on hand. the spider seems to be made just like any other just with the material not as densely made. thankfully it did not throw off the centering. There is no cure....
