Yeah I think I will go with this (http://www.musicdirect.com/p-276-audioquest-hard-y-adapter-rca-splitter-1x-male-to-2x-female.aspx) if I stay with the y cable

In case anyone else with an Onkyo receiver finds this thread, in response to my own (previous) post, no, the biamp settings on Onkyo X09 receivers does not apply to the preouts. I had a long drive to I called Onkyo and asked them, and they said neither the main preouts nor the zone 2 preouts can be switched to biamp mode for any channel.

For anyone looking for y cables, I talked to Frank at signal cable, and he can make analog-2 .6 m interconnects in the y configuration for just under $100. This is doing it the right way, with 4 cables and merged connectors at one end. He also said it could be done with more a single splitter to 2 cables, ie digital coax for a sub cable, for less money and lesses resultsl

I had a feeling on this as well, though may not be inclusive of all receivers, but one would think so.

Well, you haven't tried it yet as we discussed. How can you be so sure ? In bi amp mode, with one cable from the surround preout to one amp channel, to one speaker with the jumpers put back in, and see if a full range sound is comming out.....in surround mode, not all channel stereo.

I'm guessing it won't, but ya never know.
