surroundbar 3000 wont play out of lg

lg tv wont play the sound out of the soundbar. but i only have netflix streaming right now. im in a new place. the fiber optics port isnt glowing red. if that a problem? if not what could it be?

    The optical port on the sound bar should not glow as it is a receiver, the TV has the transmitting side. Is your TV set up to send over the optical, and is it the right setting for the sound bar. I'm not sure what the sound bar accepts for a signal, but I would not doubt that the owner manual would have that information.
