Simplify HT Setup
I am seriously thinking of selling off my HT setup and trying something new. I only have 3.1 setup right now (2 fronts and center) and am thinking of going just two channel for movies and music. I would probably go to a good set ofsmall towers for the main. I have never had towers and always wanted to try them. Before I go into speaker choices, do I still need a receiver in this setup or can I go with an integrated amplifier and still hook-up to a TV? I am assuming that I just hookup RCA interconnects from the integrated to the TV and all the other connects (e.g., cable box, Blueray) get connected directly to the TV? Is this correct?

I have a 2 channel HT. My direcTV box/BluRay/Squeezebox audio all connects to my pre. You then simply run your HDMI from your 2 video sources directly to the TV. This also renders a better picture because you are connecting directly.

Thanks Steve. What interconnects are used to connect the directv, blue ray, squeezebox to your pre?
I was thinking integrated but I was always intrigued by the Benchmark dac1 pre. I recall from reading your previous posts that you really like it, correct?Rig1 - Totem Hawks, Benchmark HDR, Parasound A21, Sonus, Samsung 52 LCD, Audioquest Type4

DirecTV--Toslink
BluRay--digital coaxial (Belden 1694A)
Squeezebox--digital coaxial (Belden 1694A)
I love using the Benchmark as my "hub" as everything benefits from its superior digital/analog sections. My Benchmark is run line-level (DAC mode) into my Placette passive linestage for volume control.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
