Paradigm Speaker system overhaul
Well with some sadness I will be getting rid of my Polks. Being in Canada the higher end Polks are not all that available (i.e. LSiM) and honestly was attracted to the reputation of Paradigm, as well as the fact that they are made in my home provice, so they are very available. The paradigms studios are further up the audiophile ladder than my current LSi's (LSi25, LSic) and I have heard that their Studio 20s edged out the LSiM bookshelfs so I suspect the same for the floor standers.
I am awaiting shipment of my new speakers ... which will include Paradigm Studio 100 version 5 (large floor standers) and their massive CC-690 center speaker which is 70 lbs large and 3 feet wide .. which destroys the 20 lb aging LsiC. In the rears I actually have the paradigm ADP-590s and my last polk speakers in my set up, the Polk Fxia3s which will eventually be replaced by another pair of ADP-590s when a nice minty used pair come up.
Ive had polk speakers for 6 years now and will be sad to let them go :sad:as I will be posting them for sale .... too bad distribution wasnt better and the polk ebay store didnt ship to canada .... but I guess thats how it is. I know I will be happy with the paradigm studio series as my bookshelf Studio 20s are awesome ... the best sound I have owned in a speaker.
I will post some pics of my new setup once it arrives and is done.

I really liked the appearance and quality of my Studio 100's while I had them, I actually like my LSi15's more thou. The CC-690 is a different story, an amazing center channel if you have the space for it. I had leaned towards doing an all Paradigm Sig system, but the sigs get pricey for a 5.1 system. I think you will really love the warmth of the Paradigms, you will just need to compliment them with a sub.

I like the Monitor line myself. Came damn close to getting the 11's, before I discovered the DT STS's.
The Titans, paired with a PDR-10 sounded REALLY good.
Enjoy your new rig.I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE! -
Have you ever tried shipping to UPS store across the border and going to pick them up? They usually charge only 10 bucks to hold an item and they will hold it for 30 days.

Sometimes it's not that easy. Especially if people don;t have a pass port. -
Here are some pics of my system overhaul. Only Polk's are Fxia3s as surround backs. Didnt take any pics of the surrounds, I will do so when I update my 'System showcase' profile.
People who own an LSiC will appreciate how much more massive the Paradigm Studio CC690 is :eek: The CC690 is effectively a large tower Paradigm Studio 100 on its side, which is what I have as left and right speakers. The Studio 100s are ~78 lbs and the CC690 is 70 lbs, so it is really just minus the metal footing and top metal plate. The sound is very uniform as it sweeps across teh front stage which is always a complaint with weaker centers relative to the left and right speakers.
Please excuse the wires everywhere as well as the Rotel amp pushed laterally. I need new cabling to be able to put the amp into the TV stand and will be doing some wire managment in the upcoming weeks.

Very cool, good choice with the paras I think. I auditioned them at a hifi store near by and thought to myself that this would be the speaker I would get if I were not already owning polks. They are very comfortable and pleasant to listen to.Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:

If not for their price I would totally be rocking them in my HT setup. BUT I got the hookup on my LSi's from Doro and Nooshin so I could have barely bought the center for what I paid for my front 3 lol.
That said the Paradigm Studio 20's are on my list to try in my 2 channel rig eventually....."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

I bought them used so I didnt pay near full price. Though shipping and unexpectedly high cross border taxes/duties soured the deal a bit. I am still very happy with the improvement in sound over my LSi 25s and LSiC. Although I dont miss the buzzing of the LSi25 amps, as mentioned in another thread, I do miss the reinforcement of the low end the 8 inch subwoofers in the LSi25s.
The Paradigm Studio 20s are a very nice speaker and have them in my 2 channel rig. If you can pick up a pair of version 4s or 5s I think you would be VERY happy! I highly recommend them. -
Really nice setup zx_toth. Congrats on the new speakers, Paradigms are great speakers, I'm sure they'll bring you lots of enjoyment.Main theater: Paradigm Studio 100's v4 L/R, CC690 Center, ADP 590 x4 Surrounds. Dual Outlaw LFM-EX-1's, Yamaha Aventage RX-A1010 as Processor, Anthem PVA-7 Amp
