On one of my mid drivers drivers.. when I push on it with my fingers spread across the cone from top to bottom and sides I do not hear any scrapping. However if my finger is just on the bottom of the driver and i push I hear a scrapping sound.. Is this a problem?

    That's normal, not a problem.

I have a MW6500 like that if you press the cone slightly unevenly. Musically, sounds fine and plays just as well as the one I replaced it with. I even connected a function generator and ran it through the frequency range and no abnormal sounds were produced.

thanks guys... appreciate your putting my mind to ease.. for those of us without special equipment.. is there a way to check a driver other than a ohm meter and putting your ear to the speaker?

If a driver has a problem, you'll hear it.

Don't do that................. let the electrons do the majority of cone movement.
