Our local antique dealer said this was from late 1700s or early 1800s.

Its a solid piece of wood, the legs are later but still very old, one leg is made shorter, she said it was so when preparing chickens or rabbits or whatever, the blood ran off.

She quoted it between 2500 and 3000 dollars, but that was a few years ago, when half the world was buying and building cabins, and gobbling up antiques and anything rustic.

Make us an offer, and if anyone has real expertise in primitive furniture, we would love some info on type of wood, etc.

BTW, it does not look like a crab cake in person, my cheap camera does it no justice.

    That does look old.

Stylish legs give it a matter of importance to a households status compared to a plain old table that would be used in a barn. Some one wanted it to look better and changed the legs huh...That might hurt as you know.
Notice the lip around the top too. Attention to purpose required that lip to be incorporated into its design also. Easier to carry or Blood run-off seems right by your knowledge of its use.
    Cool piece.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
