Never heard the rt3, but ive owened the rt5,s bought them new in 96, sold them not long ago to a good friend, Had a chance to buy the 7,s but passed as i thought the 5,s while not as much bass and smaller soundstage, sounded a bit more tighter and accurate at higher volumes than the 7,s that of course could be the room acoustics as the 7,s were pretty big,
Not an Audiophile, just a dude who loves music, and decent gear to hear it with.

I currently own 7s and 3s (see sig), both with crossover upgrades. I prefer the 3's, but I need the larger 7's in the large room my HT is in. The RT3s are heaven for nearfield listening with a small sub, IMO. They will surprise you with their tight bass and extension and excellent soudstage for such a small monitor. The design of the RT3's midbass driver seems to have better relative excursion than that of the 5 or 7. The brighter tri-laminate of the RT7 is, again, great for HT but I find the RT3 tweeter's more laid-back upper frequencies are more natural for music.

If I had to give up either pair, I think I would hesitate most with the RT3s. I really like them.
