Not my day!
I got in a new laser pickup for my Marantz DV-7600 and installed it, and got a dud. It does nothing. I put the original back in and works, so I know I did not screw up the install. Waiting for an email about what to do next.
I also got the package for my new Cambridge 640P phono stage. Except there was a 4' power cable in the box, not my phono stage! Sent another email and waiting for another response...
I really hope this luck does not keep up, I have a pair of Mullard NOS 12at7wa tubes on the way!
I did down one of my Black IPA brews, that made feel a bit better.

Ha, it could have been a much worse day I guess!
I was just stoked to get my Marantz back up and fully running and also be able to spin some vinyl again. Both blew up in my face. -
If it makes you feel worse, I'm spinning vinyl right now. If it makes you feel better, your gear is way better than mine2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A

Just a thought, did you remove (desolder) the shorting blobs? Usually a circuit trace or traces on the laser pickup is/are shorted with a blob(s) of solder to prevent static damage to the laser diodes while handling/installing.
Here is a Marantz pickup example snagged off the web (not sure which model). It would be the two traces on the left that are shorted with a 'blob' of solder. I've done a couple of Sony's and had to do the same thing, although it was one blob across two or three traces.
IIRC the correct term is static damage protection solder bridge jumper.
This suggestion helped someone out here a long time ago...

It looks like that solder point is what I missed.
I should have known it was more that plug and play... -
Wow, that stinks! I will say this, however; once you do get your 640P, you will love it. I have one now, and it is incredible.
I was really excited for that to come in. I planned on spinning some vinyl again while I installed the laser (incorrectly).
