Alrighty so most forums that I've been part of has a intro section for newbies. I can't seem to find one here, so I'm placing this thread here. I hope it's okay.


Well, I'm new to the audio scene and stumbled upon a pair of Polks that I liked and it stuck. Most likely for life. So, on to the system; humble system.

Mains:Stereo Dimensional Surrounds 400 (SDS-400) CL find $20
-from what I've found these are pretty much the Monitor 4's
-Also I've read that these are fairly rare; Polk never really meant to sell these, just store use (correct me if I'm wrong)

Surrounds:Mini Monitors II CL find $20

Center: JBL G Movies Center Goodwill $5
-I bought a Polk CS150 but came broken in the mail; got refunded
-My ears can't hear the timbre matching issue so JBL will do for now until I find a replacement driver for the CS150

All driven by my humble Yamaha HTR 5930

Used mostly for movies and Battlefield 3 in a small room; occasionally light music listening.

Now since I've got a really humble setup I thought I'd try and mask the mediocrity with some pictorials.
-Amateur photographer, so don't expect too much.

Quick and dirty shoot, I didn't have time to set up umbrellas and do a full blown shoot so here we go:

    I understand the SDS 400 story the same as you.I have a pair of those and the little suckers can put it out.
    Switching the crossover in the back really makes a huge change from one setting to the next.Very unique IMHO.
    Stick around.You'll have a pair of big SDA's before ya know it.

    You know, I've never played around with it because I have it set up as 5.1. I'll have to try it sometime if you say they're an interesting feature.

    I've never heard the SDA's but would love to try them out. I've heard a lot of rave reviews.
