I'm going to pick up the DVD. It's one of the few Disney movies I like. I also have this movie on Laser Disc (remember LD?). It was one of my reference LD. Awesome picture and sound...very good bass too especially during the stampede. I'm sure you'll enjoy the DVD ganzo.

Picked it up at T-R-U today along with "Treasure Planet" At T-R-U the "Lion King" DVD is $19.99 and you get any other Disney title for $5. CC has LK for $14.99 so if you don't want another DVD that is the place to go. Disney also has a deal out that if you get 3 Disney titles you can send in for a free DVD (from a selection of about 10 titles). I figure I'll pick up "Finding Nemo" at Blockbuster for $29.99 and 10 rentals. So for $55 I get 4 Disney DVDs and 10 rentals. Not too bad.
Oh ... And "Lion King" got the highest review I've ever seen over at HTF. The guy rated the picture quality a "6" out of 5 and sound quality a 5 of 5. Besides, it may be Disneys greatest animated film...EVER!
And...next up is "Aladdin" (10-05-04)...another of my favorites,"Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Bought it as Best Buy for $15.99. Watched it w/ the kids last night. Great movies and great surround.

Got this, it has Disney Enhanced Home Theater mix (never heard about this format before) in addition to DD 5.1. What seem to be different, is the use of surrounds to convey sound effects. In the introduction of the format, it mentioned the need to have 5.1 Discrete. PQ is first rated.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Paging Dr. Spec, indeed, Superb SQ and PQ and plenty of LFE's content.
Shack, this release I think is even better than Monster, Inc. awesome reference quality....I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
Pre-Ordered my last couple Disneys flicks through their wed site. You get free stuff animals and lithographs. I was suppose to get LK on or before the due date. And I am still freaking waiting for it.

I read the same HTF review. 6/5 for PQ and excellent aggressive SQ in the "HT 5.1 mix".
We watched The Italian (Hand) Job last night, and tonight is Harley night (it's and Indian summer in upstate NY - this is the last night for a decent ride and then it's away for the winter), followed by CSI at 9:00. So LK will have to wait. All in good time......."What we do in life echoes in eternity"

Really nice DVD.
The PQ was fabulous, except for a "slight" 3-2 alt flag chroma bug on the parrot's nose in one scene.
HT 5.1 mix was excellent - aggressive and in your face with great surround and bass."What we do in life echoes in eternity"

anyoen hate the new song as much as i do? i can't stand it, makes me want to fast forward. other then that, one of my favorite disney movies
-
absolutely, the new song sucked.
it was WAY too forced. just didn't seem to "fit" into the movie like all the other songs. -
very much enjoyed the Disney Enhanced Home Theater mix 5.1 aucio. Much better than the original DD mix. even closer to DTS mix IMHOPolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Anyone played Circle Of Life on their system off the CD? Man I tell ya, the flute in that thing is TOTALLY AWESOME! Holy crap! It sounds sweeeeeeeeeeet!!! The bass all through out that song is killer, especially at the end. Just a thought, sounds great!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Danger Boy,
You think Disney is admitting that DD5.1 is not good enough with the new Disney audio? -
yeah i think so. although if you watch the extras on the second DVD it explains why there is an enhanced soundtrack on the movie. I guess the enhanced track was developed for the IMAX large screen format. so they remixed it.. and pumped up the surround effects. it's quite goodPolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Watched it with the kids a couple of days ago, great DVD. We really liked the video quality, and the new Enhanced 5.1 HT mix is pretty sweet, but me and the kids cringed during the new song (Morning Report). I didn't stick around for the extras, but my kids had a blast listining to the movie in some of the different languages. I'm glad this one finally came out on DVD....now I can get rid of the nearly worn-out VHS version!
