My Polk soundbar works fine when watching cable shows
When I watch Netflix the audio comes of the back of the TV
but not the soundbar. Is something not hooked up correctly?

How do you have it hooked up?

per instuctions: The supplied cable goes into "Source" at the soundbar then to the TV'S
    "Optical Audio Output"

I have had a simular experience with my set and netflix. After trial and error I actually went back to my TV (vizio) Owners manual to see if I could find anything out. It turns out that my TV will not produce a multichannel sound from the optical output unless it comes from the RF input. Not sure why but that is what the manual said. When I was using the TV speakers (receiver died) with the PS3 the sound that came from Netflix and blu-ray was completely wrong. I would hear some of the music and background noise but no speach. I found that just setting the sound on the PS3 to 2 channel output sovled the problem. I'm not sure if this applies but it might be worth looking into.

Yeah, I will have to get my TV manual out to see if it can be hooked up a different way
My "Activated device" is the TV itself instead of a PS3 or a blueray player. There are two
other ports on the soundbar listed under "source".
