How to burn MOV to DVD

My new camcorder produces hi-def .mov files. What software would you recommend using to burn on to DVDs? A Google search produces a number of different free apps that will work. Problem is I can't seem to find any info on them other than the product website. For now, I am only looking to burn to DVD-R, but in the future will be picking up a BD burner as well. It would be nice if the app supports burning to both.

I like Nero and use it quite a bit. Unfortunately it's not free (says the manufacturer) so that might not be an option.65" Sony X900 (XBR-65X900E)

I actually have an older version of Nero, 7 Ultra, I use for my mini-DVD camcorder's avi files. Truth be told, I hate it & it was supposed to be one of the best available at the time. Maybe it's better now? That link looks like it has a couple viable choices.
