Good amp, great price. It will get you addicted to separates. It is not the end all be all, but a great way to get started. What would you be using as a preamp for this?

I am going to use a Harman Kardon avr 247 with it. Will that work or will I need an actual pre amp?

That will work just fine. It's one of those things that if you know for a fact you are buying equipment, and that involves an amp - get a pre. It's considered a waste to buy an AVR just to bypass the amps - but there is nothing wrong with it. Plus, you will be using the surround channels so it all works out.

Pretty straight forward. Use the LF/LR outputs into the amp. Then switch your speaker wires from the AVR to the amp itself. I'm not sure if any settings need to be changed with the receiver settings though. This is where the manual will come in handy.
