Building a center channel speaker

So I'm thinking of building a center channel speaker to match my JBL LX 44's. Please tell me if I have the right idea. Use 1 of the same tweets. Use 2 of the same mids, with 1 wired to the mid and 1 wired to the woofer on the crossover. Or, do I order a random 5-6" woofer which won't match my mains (as I don't have room for an 8" woofer in my center channel), but will likely deliver better mid/midbass response?
Also, is using real hardwood ok?
Thanks for any help!

I think the best way to do it would be to look for something smaller in that series in a two way design. If you use dual midwoofer/mids you will have to watch impedance. If they are both 8 ohms and you wire them in series the impedance will double, as will the crossover frequency if it was for an 8 ohm load. If you wire them in parallel those figures would be cut in half. Or you could do what I plan on doing and building a TV stand with a built in full range center channel. I would use 4 midwoofers and an sl2000 and a passive radiator. I also plan on building a sub using a couple passives and 4 8" drivers. Who knows I might even merge them into one enclosure for the TV stand. By using 4 mids I can wire them into a series/parallel configuration to end up with the load I need. Using 4 8 ohm drivers I can wire them to get a 2, 8 or a 32 ohm load by wiring them in parallel, series/parallel or in series respectively.

BigBankBii,
I'm interested in doing the same thing. Building a center to match my RTA RT11s. Let me know what you end up doing here. Thanks!!
