LC65i description is wrong, it says:

"Aerating" the Poly Cone
adds mass without adding weight,
for great sound and high efficiency.

this is of course impossible, the LC265i descrip is more plausible:

"Aerating" the Poly Cone
adds damping without adding weight,
for great sound and high efficiency.

You should fix the description, claiming to defy the laws of physics is the territory of white-van speaker companies, not our beloved polk audio!

I think Micah does drive a white van in his off hours from Polk. What he sells from it is unknown at this time.

Nitpicking customers, that's exactly what I need at 4:45pm on another crappy day.

One of those captions is a Micah-BS-I-Have-No-Clue-What-I'm-Writing special. The correct one is a "Polk" Paul DiComo clarification.

    So sue me.

technically speaking you can add mass w/o increasing weight. weight is not determined by mass but by density and gravity... so for instance in space no matter how much mass you have you have no weight, of how on the moon things weigh less than on earth because of the decrease in gravity. on earth however it's impossible to add mass w/o adding any weight whatsoever (however you can add mass while adding an almost insubstantial weight, they do have materials lighter than air now after all)

    well that's my $0.02

    wrong.

F=MA and the acceleration of gravity is not alterable for any given position in space.
(notice density is nowhere in this equation)

Also wrong that there is no gravity in space. Gravity is a force between two objects that varies with the mass of the objects and the distance between them. The gravity may be neglible but its not nothing,

I may be wrong about this, but isnt it the sun's gravity which governs the orbit of planets?

And that's the physics lesson for the day.

    P.S. I love you micah.

Look at the big brain on Ceruleance!

I'll echo what he said and add that there is even gravitational forces between hydrogen atoms, hence a star is born.

I still have no clue whether or not one of these captions is right or wrong.

An Aerated Poly Cone is basically a puffed up poly cone; they inject air in their. Makes it lighter (moves farther, faster) without losing the stiffness of the poly material (stiff=good, in more instances than this).

So, I can say that it damps without adding weight, right? I can say that it adds mass without adding weight, right?

What the hell am I doing here? :)

Okay, injected air DAMPS the resonance of the stiff poly cone without adding any mass, or weight, keeping the cone light and very efficient.

See, give me enough time and I can figure this out.
