As some of you know I do fret over my 2-chl system because there is way better and not all that much cash is involved. Case inpoint is my pre/amp the Onkyo P-301 which I did not ever think to highly of it.After finding a remote at a flea market which every function works including the motorized volume control I was very pleased .Now about the rear I have my Denon going into cd port via analog rca,I'm picking up my Sony 5 disc carosel through the tuner port and dock and i-net through tape 1 ,while talking to techs at both Audio Classics and Onkyo both to a man said this is fine as long as I did not run i-net radio and dock at the same time which would add some monster interference. So as a $60 garage sale find I think I diD very well.Asking about the Mac c-28 the A/C tech said it was a little dated for my system but if my my dream 2105 ever came up then the c-28 would be the right fit for it.

What don't you like about the P-301? I run a P-304, occasionally, with my Adcom GFA-555 and I really can't complain about much. Of course, this is a higher model with a quite respectable TT section.

The P-304 is not "remote" capable. Probably a late '70s early 80s' model. Not sure. But it was around that time that Onkyo hired a number of engineers and put a "push" on to compete with the upper tier Japanese Audio manufacturers of that period. The P-304, M-504 and a number of other succeeding models were the result. Some decent pieces.

It's not that I didn't like the pre.I had nothing to compare it with and then thinking wrongly that it was in the era of the cheapo Japanese product syndrome. Now seeing that it does does all I need plus if I ever get a tt it can handle that also.HALO 71 loves it and I told him if I were to get either a fantasy Mac or and Adcom he would be the first to get it cheap too..

Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the P-304 MSRP in its day was close to $700. Not sure what the P-301 was, probably less. But I do not think it would have been considered cheap in its day--not upper level stuff, but solid mid-fi.

    Enjoy!

I forget now but I think the 301 was around $500 new. I think some think that if its not part of the Integra line from that era that it is junk. And I am totally fine with them thinking that!

The remote I used for my P-301 is the RC-200S. Now it may or may not be the exact model because it does also control casset decks. It worked all the time and every time on my P- 301 and it's the only remaining remnant of the pre. If you want it it's yours I'll pass it on just like P-Man gave me his NAD pre. The 3150v is already promised to someone else when I'm sure the NAD is the pre I want and is looking that way and the 3150 has it's own remote which would go to that promised party also. P/M me if interested.

Great Lew keep the good feelings going. I really do like it here at Club Polk and feel anytime we can help each other out I'm all for it. I'm very happy your liking the NAD. I love it when I receive ''free'' audio goodies and can pass them along to fellow audio addicts like myself. You guys would probably faint if you knew the boxes of vinyl I've passed to others in the past. I'd likely have over 10,000 LP's had I keep them all. But really how many LP's do I need and I'm sure I have to many already.

Let's help each other out when ever possible...........P-man

Got it and Thanks. I can now stop the volume when the phone rings or I hear the door bell without walking over to the stereo first. Yea I know I'm lazy at times. Thanks again.
