Outlaw LFM-Ex or HSU VTF2 or VTF 3

I have an average room, 12' x 15' 12' opening up to a kitchen which makes it 12' x 23' 12'. So the cubic feet is approx 3300.

Outlaw LFM-EX is $ 649 (don't know shipping)
HSU VTF 2- Mk4 is $ 549 + 63 shipping = $612
HSU VTF 3 - mk4 is $659 + 99 shipping = $758

VTF 2 should be enough for me right now, but if I move and have a bigger room. So it looks like VTF3 or LFM-EX will serve better. Am I thinking right.

I also see many comparisons and fans of both subs, but what are polkies using more. I see a good thread on VTF-2 and Polk 505, and thats what started me to look for a new one actually.

I prefer downfiring cos the side firing will fire into my Rti12 tower or does it not matter.

I would add REL and VMPS to your list in that price range.

Indeed - isn't there a sweet deal on a REL in the For Sale here?

I think the VTF-2 may be not enough sub for your room.

The HSU 3 3 and Outlaw (assuming this is the big one) are close enough in sound and perfromance I would go which ever works out to be the cheapest.

I had the 3 3 and a friend has the Outlaw. The 3 3 side firing should cause you no concern. If you prefer down firing then get the Outlaw. Both are great subs for the money.

I know this is a bit of a reach price wise, but this looks like the best deal (IMO) out right now....

You guys are killing me. I had barely started to understand the specs of Outlaw/HSU/SVS about 16 Hz or 18 Hz with one port sealed and you give me this radiator/passive thing :-(

VTF -15 is too big and out of my budget, I think I will concentrate on the VTF-3 or LFM-EX.

    Appreciate yor replies

That comparison thread was started by me. That VTF-2 MK4 will be plenty I run it 4db behind my a7's and half on the volume nob. Country music is enough to rattle dishes in the kitchen!!However it take forever to break in like 200+ hours

PS After getting the HSU I dont even think about my PSW505 anymore it just sits in my closet now, LOL if I had the room I would pick up a second vtf-2 mk4 in a heart beat. It blows away any big box store sub I have ever heard.

HSU's ported sub are pretty musical.

The problem with any sub is making sure the sub and room match.

If you go cheap or undersized for your room you will not be happy.

Outlaw LFM-EX is now on sale fro $549 and free ground shipping.

I think this will be a no brainer, saving 200 bucks and getting something equal to the VTF 3 mk 4

I have never really considered Outlaw, but after reading many reviews on this sub and the former LFM-1, for that price shipped it seems like a really good deal. Maybe I need to try one as well...

I will be receiving mone today.

Considering this is a heavy beast, and I would not like to lift it too many times, should I start with the one port plugged since my room is not very big and I don;t listen very high volumes.

If your doing mainly ht, yes, mainly music leave both unplugged. It's not too hard to add or remove the plug, just lift the front of the sub up. Nice grab btw!

Thanks for the advice, I will use it for 90% HT and TV.

So got this beast, and set it up for the single port plugged mode,

PROS : like the sound, very tight and accurate, in some music the bass is so tight that I have to adjust the listening taste now :-), Saw a little bit of Iron Man on TV and the sequence where he makes his new suit, tries it on and mis fires on to the wall one, wow ! the thump was a thump, I am glad I made a good choice.

CONS : It came with a light brown top :-( The picture on the website showed the top (plexiglass or something) cover to be matching with the color of the wood on the sides, but my top is light brown in color, is sticking like a sore thumb, bad choice of materail. I will check with them if there is something of similar color that can replace this.

Any suggestions on how to hide this, do any of you put some cloth or something to make this look like a table

the light brown top is the protective covering for the plexiglass. I have the Outlaw compact sub and it was the same way out of the box. Peel off the brown thing.

Congrats, give it some light time on tv to open up and break in, I recommend How to train your dragon, Flight of the Phoenix, Pulse, or Transformers 3 when your ready to give it a real work out, on blu ray of course. Enjoy!

Dude I have the HSU version these subs take a long freaking time to break in.... If your impressed now wait till it has around 100+ hours on it. When that driver starts to loosen up it gets soooooo much better. P.S. Get a Gramma, I did and the bass tightened up even more. I have the variable tuning. I leave one port open, Q@5 in Mass Exstension. I run 1.5 decibels hot, corner loaded...Sounds freaking awsome.

The Hsu VTF is a killer beast! Sound and weight-wise! When I first got the sub, I thought there was something wrong with it, because it didn't sound like my vintage Polk PSW-180. After playing some more movies and music, I realized that this sub is potent. It really does need to break-in, but once it does, it plays subtle when it needs to, but literally scares you when it's supposed to.

Nerd we have the same TV. I love mine, however I have noticed a disturbing trend that appeared a few weeks ago. Mine is developing DSE (dirty screen effect) very badly and I almost at the point of calling LG to see what kind of repair can be done. Have you had any problems with yours?
