Connecting Banana Plugs

I have a legacy two channel stereo system (Crown PSL-2 Preamp and a Hafler P-230 Amp - 115 watts per channel.)
I just purchased a pair of Polk TSi500 Floorstanding Speakers and a Polk PSW505 12-Inch Powered Subwoofer.
I also purchased a pair of 10 foot 12 AWG speaker cables to go from the Hafler to the PSW505 and a pair of 15 foot 12 AWG speaker cables to go from the PSW505 to the pair of TSi500 floorstanding speakers.
My main problem is I don't know the first thing about connecting banana plugs.

Some are the screw on type where you strip the ends and clamp them into the plugs; some are the solder type. Either way its pretty easy and self explanatory (red goes to positive side of wire and into the red coneection of the amp and speaker and black goes to black). You obviously don't NEED banana plugs, but I use them and like them. Check out parts express or other vendors.

I understand how to connect speakers in order to keep them in phase.
My speaker cables came with banana plugs on them. I can't figure out how to connect them to the binding posts on the amp and the speakers.
The red and black (+ & -) plastic 'nuts' should screw completely off. Mine don't seem to.Crown PSL-2 Pro Preamp

Screw them all the way in and plug them into the center hole. That's all you have to doShawn

Good thing he didn't try shoving them in the little holes on the sides of the posts ehh?? I still think about that when I see him post in threads here.--Gary--
Onkyo Integra M504, Bottlehead Foreplay III, Denon SACD, Thiel CS2.3, NHT VT-2, VT-3 and Evolution T6, Infinity RSIIIa, SDA1C and a few dozen other speakers around the house I change in and out. -
the best ones I came across were the ones w/the setscrews facing bothsides so you would have to tighten both and get the best connection. With mine you unscreww the collar then w/a jewlers screwdriver loosen the set screww then strip the lenght of wire needed then tighten back the screw and then screw back the collar. This is the easiest and neatest way of doing nanas that once taught down it should never loosen up.I use them for both my Adcom and Yamaha rx-v665.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

I use these and have had great results with them. Seem to be high quality plugs and haven't given me a problem in a few years despite multipole relocations and plugging in / removing them multiple times for various reasons. http://www.amazon.com/GLS-Audio-Locking-Generation-Connector/dp/B000O8AHLAShawn

My old Monster speaker cables had 'pins' that connected that way.Crown PSL-2 Pro Preamp
