Projector question...

I know this isn't about speakers, but figured i'd get good feedback here. The installers for my home theater are recommending the Epson Power Lite Pro Cinema 6010.

Reviews look good, but how do you know the quality if you can't see one in person? Have not been able to find a showroom with one of these installed.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this projector?

Thank you for all opinions.

This should be in the "Electronics" section. Not sure how you couldn't have associated the two.

    Now that's funny.

I currently have an Epson that I've been very happy with, but I'm not familiar with the model you're looking at.

Hopefully Sherardp will chime in because he knows projectors and will give you some good advice and recommendations.

I think he means the epson 6100 and its not a very good projector and it wont be a pro version either as they dont come in that model series

Or it's possible he means the Epson Pro Cinema 6010 as he clearly stated in the OP.

I would not have thought so but your right I had the 5010 stuck in my head . If thats the choice the op is going to go with then maybe you should go to the AVS thread as I keep hearing about issues with the focus of that particular model. There is a uniformity sharpness problem everyone is having especialy when ceiling mounting upside down. Most users are shelf mounting it right way up to try tame the problem. Also the 3d is reported to have really bad flickering and all the LCD's this year have been plagued by ghosting. The only way to do 3D properly is DLP and they dont have good contrast. Another thing to consider is you cant have frame interpolation or the dynamic iris engaged during 3D and it costs a good deal more than the 5010

If good blacks and 3D are important then only the Sony VPL-HW30AES can do both and to achieve this you gotta buy the monster vision glasses to near eliminate the ghosting. Every other projector was a near failure for 3D this year and not one machine can do everything right
