Very nice Denon DRA 835R stereo receiver. This was Denons second from the top receiver around 1991. I think it sold for $800 new. It features Denon optical Class A circut to cut down on harshness and a high current power supply with large Toroidal transformer and dual power supplies. Also includes a nce MM phono section. Has 100 watts per channel with peaks of over over 300 w/ch available. This was a top stereo receiver but does have inputs and outputs for video such as VCRs and VDP however it IS NOT an AV receiver. In geat shape and everything works perfect. There are a couple of scratches on the top but overall very nice. I do not have the remote but almost any universal remote will run it. Asking $149 Thanks,Keith

This generation of Denon receivers really are nice units. The 835R and 1035R seem to be Denon's last no holds barred hurrah in stereo receivers. They got rid on nonsense things like simulated stereo and tried to stick as close as possible to a dual-mono design. The sound is clean, warm and provide very good bass response. For 2ch listening, my AVR-888 can't touch my DRA-835R.

This receiver also has pre-outs and main-ins.

The remote for the DRA-835R is RC-137.

I don't think I ever saw a receiver that had a switch instead of jumpers for the pre-out/main-in loop. Pretty clever.
    Bump!

I think these older AVR's have a very real value in our little "business" here. They make great 2 channel rigs for just about any place and can even support 5 channel if necessary. I recently, last week, purchased a couple, although not as old but I got an HK 7200 which will bi-amp (if capably to re-direct) some old Klipsch KG's in my workshop. The look nice have gobs of power (toroidal transformer in the HK) and relatively inexpensive. I also picked up an Onkyo txsr 805 for my book room. I think like the Denon for sale here they both weigh 50 plus pounds. That's way cheap at price per pound. good luck with the sale

I was interested in the 1025r but it got sold but this seems to be the same thing, maybe you could tell me the real differences? I am not sure on how mucb shipping would cost either because i live in moline illinois but i would be interested if i could get it for around 100 dollars, but maybe we could negotiate but im not really in a place where i can spend anymore than 100+ shipping which will probably be alot more than im anticipating but please email me or update this thred if not already sold. My email is rutheymanager.nr@gmail.com. thanks again!

The DRA-1025R was the top Denon receiver in its day. The DRA-835R is just a notch below the top, top being the DRA-1035R, but a little newer. There was a DRA-1025RA in between. The 835R design improves upon sound quality with improvement in low impedance drive capability and eliminating features like simulated stereo. Unfortunately, Denon also eliminated the moving coil capability from the phono section that was present in the 825R, 1025R and 1035R. The moving magnet phono stage, however, is still very decent.

    Hope this helps

Thanks so much for your advice but maybe you could give me some more if possible. I have had this obsession with denon but i really just need whatever can power my MTX AAL 2230's that are 600watt and my MTX AAL 1240's which is 200watts and maybe some smaller speakers with wattage upward of 95wattsof95watts

I am not familiar with the MTX speakers. Can you provide more specs (impedance is important and possibly SPL if concerned about loudness). The power rating of the speaker is not all that important. How many speakers do you plan to drive at a time?

As you can see from my signature block, I also have an affection for older Denon equipment.

It appears that this item was sold on Ebay and so should be marked as sold.
This forum is great place for discussions about equipment, but it is not really appropiate in the ForSale section.
Please start a new thread in one of the other sections.
    Thank you.
