hey guys, I just picked up a set of Polks at an estate sale, they are pretty big and heavy though so I thought I better get em. It says monitor series 2 #m12 0003913 and 0003641, they have what looks like a 12 in woof and 4 five or six in subs and 1 tweet. Are these any good ? worth anything ? what were they retail ? about how old are they ? and what kind of power can they take ? I realize they wont stack up to my Klipsch"s but surely they should be o.k. I havnt had the chance to hook them up yet but they are in perfect condition, thanks fella"s, Roost

Monitor 12's! That 12" is actually a passive radiator. What makes you think they won't stack up against the Klipsch? And yeah, they are worthless. Where do you live, just out of curiosity.

EDIT: Unrelated...I hope. But first it was Bose and now Klipsch today. Both First time poster's. What a coincidence ehh? lol

I was just messing with ya! I'd love to get a hold of some Monitor 12's. Some say they are boomy and not as refined as Monitor 10's. But I'd still like a pair. I id'ed those first btw! lol

It looks like his are the Series 2 which would have the SL-2500 tweeter vs the SL-2000. They should sound pretty nice and should rock with that Pioneer receiver. Nice vintage system you got there.

BTW, they are form around 1991. I see from the schematic that it may have a poly-switch. These can be problematic but not much trouble to remove.

Mon 12's on that old Pioneer in a daughter's room... I'd hope the polyswitches are still fully functional.

DSkip, I dont even pretend to know anything about the inside of any speaker, never actually took one apart before. I heard a pair of Khorns at our local high end stereo store when I was 20 years old and swore that one day I would own a pair. I couldnt tell you much about them in technical sense though, other than they sound better than anything i"ve ever heard. Had a hard time deciding between them and the la Scala"s once I could finally afford them, the latter looks to commercial for a living room though. Thanks for the info guys.....Roost
