Monitor30 Series II Bookshelf Speakers + PSW10 Subwoofer using built-in AMP
Can i just connect these bookshelves speakers to the sub, and use the system with the built-in amp the PSW10 has?

Just run them off a receiver and run your sub from the "subwoofer out" on the back of the receiver.

I don't have a receiver. But the psw10 has a built-in amp, and I want to set up the sub with these speakers. Can't I just connect the sub with the speakers and have the speakers powered?

The amp built in to the sub only powers the sub. You need something else to power the speakers. A receiver or stereo integrated amplifier would be the way to go. Then connect your laptop to that.

From what I understand, the left and right speaker terminals on the back of the sub are for incomming signals. If you do not have an RCA output on your AVR, you can use L/R front speakers to send signals to your sub. Home theater subs are not like a computer speaker setup, where your computer hooks up to the sub and then the speakers are connected to the sub. As mdaudioguy stated you need a receiver. If you are only looking to run 2 speakers and a sub you should be able to find a used 2.1 receiver pretty cheaply. Ebay or your local pawn store if you don't want to wait would be a good place to start. Or you might find someone here who might donate an old one laying around. I have had 3 old receivers that I threw away in the last year that were just outdated but still worked. If I still had them I would have given it to you.
