First time seller here but I have bought a number of things on this forum. I bought this DAC last year from Brock (heiney9) when I started to get more serious about 2 channel. Now that I have made some other upgrades I am interested in trying some new DAC's.

Info can be found here:

http://www.poppulse.com.hk/pdf/PopPulse%20PCM1796%20DAC%20User%20Manual2.pdf

I have pics I can email if interested. It is is very good condition with only a few tiny scratches and a screw missing on the back (it was missing when I bought it from Brock. I never even took the cover off to look inside).

As far as performance. I blind tested it against the DAC in the Squeezebox Touch and was able to pick them apart 5 times in a row. This might be subjective but I see it as an upgrade to the Touch which is the only real reference point I have to compare.

Price is $175 Shipped Conus.

PM if interested

Nice little DAC that is USB capable. Lots of questions lately on the forum about computer audio, this would do nicely as I used it in my computer rig via USB.

Can you qualify that. Better or worse than the musiland monitor 02.

I can give you my opinion based on my rig. I prefered the the warmer sound of my AMC DAC8 and the only way to use the AMC with my new computer is via USB. I don't use the Musiland as a DAC but as the USB to SPDIF converter so I can use the AMC. I still prefer the AMC to the Musiland. I use 5B's and the AMC might not be 100% neutral but it has more bass than either the PopPulse or Musiland. Again, it could have a bass emphasis. I seem to remember when I used it the main rig to get a good listen on better gear it seem to have bloated bass. The slight bass hump helps in the office rig.

They all do a nice job, in my rig I still slightly prefer the AMC but it is a hassle having all the extra connections. Hence the reason I am shopping for an Audio GD. Smaller footprint, still somewhat audiophile and discrete. Not a fan of op-amps at the input and output.

The AMC sounds good in my office rig, it has a synergy that's hard to beat. I opened up the AMC and there is barely anything in there and the parts look cheap and it's not over built by far. It seems to work though.

Who knows, maybe the Audio GD will fall short as well, but I have to try and find something I can live with. All the extra cables, plugs etc, are driving me nuts.

Understand lol. Cable management isn't always fun.
