Two questions, which is better for side and rear surrounds? The lsi 7 or the lsi fx? And will my Anthem mrx 500 be enough juice to run either? (100 watts at 8 ohms but at 4 ohms I'm guessing 150-200?) thanx in advance guys!

John,
I'd say it depends on your room, I went with another speaker besides lsi because of placement, the fx's would be best if you have the room, if they have space constraints I'd go with the 7's. Thankfully for you, if you buy the fx's you wouldn't be outnmuch for resale. Id really look for an external amp if your running lsi's off of that anthem. Good luck.
Hey! 1k post here! Hoorah! -
My understanding is that the Fxs are more flexible when it comes to positioning. Just keep in mind that Lsi7s can always be used for a nice two-channel set-up if for any reason you decide to move on to a different HT system.
Regarding power, my HK3490 (about 150 WPC for 4 Ohm loads) drives my 7's with no problem.MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370
OFFICE: Polk Lsi7; REL T3; HK 3490; CA 840W; Onkyo C-S5VL

Has anyone here by chance used both lsi 7's and lsi fx's for side and rear surrounds and give a comparison ? I use my rig for mostly ht but I do a bit of gaming as well as 7 channel music as well. Just trying to figure what will sound better, thanx again

Thats iffy, especially if your doing 7 channel music. The Anthem, in 7 channel mode I believe is limited at 47 watts plus I don't even think they rated it for 6 ohm or 4 ohm. If you have another amp taking care of the front 3 speakers, then maybe you can get away with the 7's. The reason I say that is since you said you play 7 channel music, that represents a more constant load to all 7 channels than playing a movie would. Plus, you have more of a tendancy to turn up the volume on music playback.HT SYSTEM-

I have LSiFXs for side and LSi7s (modded) for rear....
I will say the ambiance type effects (rain, wind, battlefield sounds) are aided by the FXs, but creaking doors or voices moving around are better on the 7s...HT: Ninja Master LSi9s, Ninja Master LSiC, Slightly Modded LSiFXs, Modded LSi7s, Outlaw LFM-1 EX and Polk PSW125

Yes the mrx 500 will be running the surround channels only, I have a monster 3 channel for the fronts and center. Anthem assured me that the mrx can run 4 ohm speakers without breaking a sweat. I mainly use my rig for 60% movies 30% gaming and 10% music
