How is the HK 3475?

Considering doing a 2-channel setup in my basement for music when friends come over to play pool etc... Looking at the HK 3475 2-channel stereo receiver and can get it for $212 new. Here are the power specs:
110 Watts per channel, 20Hz 20kHz @ <0.07% THD, both channels driven into 8 ohms; 140 watts per channel, 20Hz 20kHz @ <0.2% THD, both channels driven into 4 ohms
High Instantaneous Current Capability (HCC) : ±45 Amps
Its ±45 Amps power rating is the same as the HK AVR525 7-channel receiver which I know is pretty powerful. I was thinking of running 2 Polk LSi9s or even LSi15s (would rather have the 15s) off of this receiver. Seeing it does 140x2 at 4 ohms and knowing that HK underrates their products I'm wondering if this will have the power to push the LSis? I know the AVR525 does over 70 watts per channel x7 at 8 ohms which would equal 490+ watts at 8 ohms. Seeing this stereo receiver can have the same current draw do you think it's capable and DOES produce a lot more than 140x2 at 4 ohms? If so I'm sure I could get away with dual LSi15s to handle all the frequencies for 2-channel music. If it doesn't produce much more I may have to go with dual LSi9s set to small (if I can do that with the 3475) and have the LFE running out to a nice 10-12" subwoofer.
Any and all suggestions/comments are GREATLY appreciated!

I have an HK 3370 powering a pair of LSI9s. The 3370 is basically the same receiver, but 70 watts per channel vice the 110 watts. This receiver gets loud, and has plenty of power if thats what your looking for. The sound quality is good, however I'm replacing it for an inexpensive pre/amp combo. I'm not that satisfied with the imaging and depth that the receiver presents when matched with my LSIs. I've run an amp to my LSIs so I know what their capable of, and the HK just doesn't "open" them up. My opinion, anyways.

Mazeroth, just curious, but where did you find it at that price?

From where I work with my discount.
See I can get 2 LSi9s and the HK for $650 SHIPPED brand new from the manufacturers. Not sure if I want to spend $500 or more dollars on a better amp to drive them when I get the whole setup so cheap. What are your thoughts? A nice thing I can do is always down the road upgrade if I really feel the need to and just use the HK to power my Polk RTI600s for my computer speakers. -
Well, I don't really know much about that receiver. I do know that they have a newer model about to come out that will be slightly more powerful, but not really by enough to really make much if any difference. I also know that receiver has a sub out. I also know that whatever HK says is the rated power, you can bank on it, and then some. I say go for it! Especially if you plan on getting a halfway decent sub to power most of the bass (I assume that since it has a sub out, that you can set your speakers to small, although that may not be the case on that 2 channel receiver, I don't really know). For the price you can get it for, it's a no-brainer. I bought an "open box" Onkyo 8211 for my office rig, but I would have gladly paid an extra $100 for that HK. I'm sure it would power a pair of 9s, especially with a sub if they can be set to small. For that price, you probably won't be able todo any better.

ATCVenom,
How is $650 w/ shipping EXPENSIVE for (2) BRAND NEW Polk LSi 9s and a BRAND NEW HK 3475? Please tell. -
its not, i think he misunderstood...CC doesnt even sell LSi speakers so maybe he had alittle too much to drink....j/k

ATCVenom, it can NOT be done. 100% impossible unless you own a business and carry both products I'm sure. If you know of some other way, I'd sure as heck appreciate a PM
