No pre-outs on avr workaround. Will this work?

My 7.1 avr has no preouts (except sub) and I recently got an HK 3490 that I've fell in love with. I'd like to have the fronts going through the HK and all other channels output from the avr. If I get a BPD like OPPO's BDP-80 can I use its 7.1 Front L+R outputs to go to the HK3490 and out to my fronts and just have all the other speakers hooked up to the avr leaving its Front L+R with nothing connected? I'm using HDMI going to my avr currently. Has anyone tried this?

I will be getting an avr with preouts sometime in the future but for now I'm getting tired of manually disconnecting my front speakers from the avr to listen to CDs from the HK. I may have to build a source select switch which I was trying to avoid.

You need a Niles A/B Amp switch. they go for about $90 bucks.

Or a 4PDT On/Off/On switch for about five bucks.
