How have you guys done this without making a mess? I've used a pack of JB and still have 1 more speaker to do on the 2B's! Using popsicle sticks to spread it but it's still getting everywhere I don't want it to be.

Are you going all the way around the magnet? Both sides? If so its not necessary. You should be able to do both speakers and still have some left over..

I made a mess and loved every bit of it. Just get it on enough to adhere four sides, should be fine. Good thing that side of the driver is hidden inside the speaker

I put out just a little bit at a time because it's starts to cure pretty fast. At least faster than I was applying.

I did a bit of DIY last night and now am enjoying my work. Fixed a bad phono RCA plug, so now records in stereo with no hum, fixed an RCA jack pin on the adcom, and now that's a solid connection. I got a replacement driver for one I messed up by not properly cutting the rubber surround from screw holes. I'm jb welding tomorrow the new driver. I think it's cool despite the mess. I used an old broken screwdriver instead of a stick.

Just got to be a little careful. And use lots of paper towels to clean the surplus, they're your friend

I did mine like those in the thread EV linked - top and bottom lf magnets/plates.

I use an artist's palette knife to both mix & apply the JB Weld, works very well with excellent control. I use the regular and not the quick setting stuff. And LOTS of paper towels and acetone!

Now I realize perhaps I should have asked this question before starting the JB Weld application...so with that in mind, just received a 4 sq ft sheet of Dynamat. What's the best way to apply this? I've never used this stuff before.....

You got Dynamat Extreme, right? Cut it with scissors or a razor knife, peel off the backing and press it in place. You don't need to cover every square inch, a little goes a long way.

I was thinking to cut it to a general size, press in place and use a knife to trim excess? I think it's Extreme, came in a 2' X 2' sheet.

You just want to cover the "spokes" of the speaker baskets. I also put pieces on the round part between the spokes perpindicular to the flange that contacts the front baffle; none on the flange, though.

Cut to fit - doesn't have to be exact.

The Extreme has a foil layer, regular doesn't. You want the Extreme as the regular doesn't stick all that well. As Fred stated, cut to fit. You're looking at something like a 1" x 2" strip for every spoke.
