Responded to a cl ad for a set of stratus golds by psb.

Had never heard of them, but reviews were impressive, and they were within budget.

Pic on cl was of one speak, subsequent pics sent to me seemed to be only one speak, but wife of seller swore no scratches and certainly no function issues.

Drove the 1.5 hours to atlanta, listened to the 95 lb. beasts.

Even though we were listening to mp3s over an old yamaha dsp amp, they sounded pretty impressive, so i started the inspection.

The speaker not pictured had a cable box sitting on top of it, hiding a crack all the way across the top, as well as a couple of moderate scratches.

An obvious attempt to hide the damage, I was pissed but he also had the boston t1000s that i now have for sale on cp so it was not a total cluster.

My question, anyone ever heard these hooked to proper gear, the reviews said they were designed by a violinist who wanted a better speaker than what was out there, would be interested to hear a proper review.

BTW, he was asking 350, and i read the tops are removable, so the repair would not have been tough, but people like that should not be rewarded.
humpty dumpty was pushed

The boxy look may not be a thing of beauty but the Gold's were true full range high end speakers, certainly still worth $350 if all drivers are functional and is reasonable cosmetically.I believe Paul S Barton the owner/ designer is also violinist.
