M5 speaker replacment

I need to replace the speakers in my M5s. After 15 or so years of hard use it's time. What kind, where do I get them and how do I open them up to get the speaker out?

Do you mean the M5 wedge speakers or Monitor 5? Are the drivers making noise that indicates that they need to be replaced? Also, which drivers are you looking to replace (mid-woofer or tweeter)?

If it is the M5 wedge, assuming that they are like the M3, the grills pull off and there are screws holding the front bezel to the cabinet. Remove the bezel to open the cabinet and you will see the screws to remove the woofer. I would be surprised if you can find an exact replacement though.

If it is the Monitor 5, you will need to determine which version you have. Better yet, remove the grill, remove the screws holding the mid-woofer in place and look at the magnet. The model number of the mid-woofer should be on the magnet sticker (MW-65xx). Same for the tweeter.

They are the M5 wedge speakers and the woofers are bad.

Check connections before ordering drivers. A few that I've had since around '90 (yours are slightly different than mine) had weak connections at the connector plate and one worked loose at the woofer. IIRC, in most cases, the tweeter was still producing some sound. All of mine were outside in harsh, salty environment though.
