Need new caulking

I think I may give up and just go buy some Bose, something simple and something everyone will quickly recognize and say,"oh, they're so cute." This audio stuff shouldn't be so difficult. I've been working on my new RTI A9's for this past week and made some progress. I had intended to use them in my living room where I now have them set up in the corners looking at my chair. My previous thoughts were to use my old Yamaha ca1010 and my JBL 4411's which was my former gold standard. I really like the looks of the RTI's over the JBL's although I still think my old Yammy is quite handsome...will see how all this goes.
I hooked them up to my new Onkyo txnr 708 slated as a replacement in my family room ht set-up. While the A9's sounded good in pure direct on the Onkyo the guys in the Polk Forum said to hook them up to an amp. I don't have a state of the art amp so I wired up a couple of my old Kenwoods out of the pre-outs of the 708. I used a couple of monster "Y" cables to split the signal and wired one amp for the low sections and one amp to the high sections using common old 14 gage speaker wire. I have a blue ray hooked into the Onkyo via HDMI and set up some Fleetwood Mac to rip. It was a little tiring listening to the uppers as the old Kennys can be a little bright so I attempted to adjust the tone on my new Onkyo was told several times "not allowed" by the very nice display. (do women come up with this stuff...not allowed) I couldn't do a thing to adjust the tones and cut down on the highs. As I was about to give up completely I thought of something someone said...you gotta throw an amp at those A9's to get them to really sing.
In a last ditch effort I thought what do I have to lose if I really light them up, it's just stuff. I cranked the Onkyo up gradually to a 90 level and both of the Kennys were pegged at the 200 wpc level and Oh My Gosh. The floor was shaking, my chest was pounding and it was just a little scary. Mick Fleetwood was just pounding the drums and if I closed my eyes he would have been right in the room with the rest of the band. After about two minutes of this I noticed the caulking in my windows flying about and then down the street, damn...but worth it.
I will spend some time now looking around for my spare pre-amp for the kennys and eliminate the Onkyo and see if I can get the highs toned down a tad. Will report back later after I find my old pre and get some new caulking. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ALL OF YOUR INPUT. Michael

Another happy camper that just realized big floorstanders wake up with some power behind them. Congrats man. May I suggest a warmer sounding amp would be a better match for those bad boys, like a Parasound or B&k. Also, warmer speaker cables and better Inter connect cables would serve you well too. The better the speakers, the better your systems faults become apparent and the better your associated gear needs to be. Have fun.HT SYSTEM-

Mike, let me add to be carefull on that volume dial pal, those old Kenny's when pushed could go south taking a tweet or two with them. Ya never know on older gear that hasn't been redone.HT SYSTEM-

Tony, thanks for that and I will be careful, hooking up some other combinations now. I'm kind of liking a NEW amp in XPA-3 league for more reliability or maybe a good 2 channel. Looks like I just missed out on some parasounds that came up yesterday but are already spoken for. I will pay close attention.Main Family Room: Sony 46 LCD, Sony Blue Ray, Sony DVD/VCR combo,Onkyo TXNR 708, Parasound 5250,
