If you look at their site (http://van-halen.com/jump.html), the signing seems to be lacking baddly. Songs that were so good back then... I am not expecting super performance out of 50 years old but at least provide decent nostalgia of the era. I hope I won't be too disappointed in March?

I don't know if it's fair to compare Sammy to DLR, but I saw Sammy on the Mas Tequila tour, he was at least mid 50's then, and he makes DLR look like he needs to be in a retirement home.

As far as the song goes, any Chickenfoot song is better than Tattoo.

Bought it a couple hours ago at my local CD store. Guy said it was not to be released until Tuesday, but he sold me a copy.

I was a real VH fan n the day. Saw them live with Boston, Poco and the Outlaws in Raleigh, NC in 1978. They were the opening act and stole the show. One of the great 80's show bands, and they had real talent, too.

This album...not so much. It sounds like VH, but no real excitement there. Sort of a mish-mash of 'more of the same, but not quite.' I couldn't quite get into it, and waited for a strong anchor track that never came.

Maybe I'll change my mind after another play or two, but I wouldn't recommend running out to buy it.

Tried it... and man-oh-man are you right.

Looks like Pee Wee Herman rockin' the old folk's home, and he's about to break into the "Big Shoe Dance".

The difference is that Pee Wee Herman was trying to be funny. I kind of feel bad for Mr. Roth.

This is who he reminds me of now (I was actually thinking of the Mack the Knife parody but can't find it).

Just got home from the final "dressed rehearsal" and it was really good.
Eddie still can shred out all those solos and Wolfgang plays and sings back up pretty good.
DLR was good, funny, and had about 85% of the lyrics down. They changed some of the lyrics here and there (mostly for the better) like the talking during HFT. Second to last song was Panama and they cut it off at the big peak David saying "that's as far as we got so far in rehearsals", then the band cuts back in which I thought was good. They ended with Jump, and it brought a tear to my eye as it was my first ever favorite song back when it was new.

Special notes DLR played the first 3/4 of Ice Cream Man solo on the acoustic guitar before the rest of the band joined in and really rocked it.
Eddie also did an extended version of Cathedral (mixing in some other solos) which brought goosebumps.
Sound could have been better but we were 10 feet off of the stage and the FOH speakers were above and way outside of us, and mostly affected only vocals. Huge video screen behind them was way cool as well.

I heard the Tattoo song on the radio and was embarrassed for them. Hard up for money they are.

I listened to some of the Itunes previews and it seems there are much better songs than Tattoo. Why you'd roll out with one of the worst songs on the album is beyond me.

That is good news. I cannot imagine them not having some better material.
