Some People Just Suck!

Ordered a 50ft ethernet cable for my new bluray player, some speaker wire and two CDs from Amazon. Never showed up but said delivered. Had to go through the hassle of calling USPS (although they were helpful). My local post office called the next day and confirmed delivery at 11:30. No one was home and the package was probably too big to fit in the mailbox. So....either the postman kept it for himself or someone took it off my doorstep. Only 32 bucks, but lessens my already shakey view on humanity lately. Rant over. Re ordered just the ethernet. That should fit in the mailbox and hopefully no one will mess with it. YEESH!!!!!!

I got a killer deal on a pair of used LSi 7's off Ebay. $150. Sent UPS to my door. Showed delivered at 3:45PM and I decided to leave work at 4:30PM to get home so they wouldn't sit on the front porch long. Get home, they are nowhere to be found. Check with a few neighbors, no one has them.

The seller filed a claim with UPS and after about a month I got a full refund........sure it worked out, but I wanted the LSi 7's for $150 not the money. Never have found that good a deal on LSi 7's to this day.

I was pissed because in that case I wanted the merchandise more than the cash. Either the driver took them, delivered to the wrong address or someone snatched them off the porch. I think they may have been delivered to the wrong address and the new owner was shady enough to keep them.

Ever since then, I have stuff delivered to work where someone has to sign for it or I can grab it right as it's delivered.

Amazon will send you another shipment free. I have had that happen before too. No questions asked if it's under a certain dollar amount and they will just resend it.

I took a personal day off from work when my MG-20's were delivered. There was no way they were going to be seen or touched by anyone but me.

One of my businesses ships thousands of packages each year and we've noticed theft rates have been steadily increasing since 2008.

It's a sad commentary as to where we are as a country, but we've had to go to almost 100% signature required.

At about $2 per package it sure eats into profits, but our losses were exceeding that cost so we had no choice.

You are absolutely right that "Some People (THIEVES) Just Suck" !!!!

Sometimes putting a generic description can deter smart folks who grab up stuff.

Think of the crackheads disapiontment when he opened the box and found out he could only get a couple of bucks for the cd's and had no idea what the wire was for or where he could sell it.

I've been in your shoes. Nowadays, I'm usually home when a package arrives due to my working the night shift, so that works out. Otherwise, I would be having most packages sent with signature required.

I did have one "incident" not that long ago, though. UPS or USPS delivered a box to my door containing the battery/remote combo pack for my Squeezebox Radio. I don't even think they knocked, or I was just in a very deep sleep. Later that evening I check the tracking and look for it outside the door, but don't see it. I look a little further out on the lawn and see the box thrown there with the flaps opened. Apparently someone ripped the tape off, looked inside, decided they didn't want it, and threw it on the lawn. I was glad they didn't actually take the product, but it pissed me off nonetheless.

Humanity as a whole seems to be in a downward spiral...kind of like a toilet being flushed...

Same here, big or small, expensive or cheap all gets delivered at work. The only thing that still gets delivered home are bills which I wouldn't mind if someone dediced to steal, they could even pay them if they really wanted too!

You can hold stuff at the Fedex shipping center by request on the shipping form.
And the less the delivery guys handle it, the better!

Even when I have designated that a delivery be by signature only.........the packages were still just dumped on the porch for anyone to grab !:mad:

Now you guys got me worried about my new shoes that are sitting on my front porch as we speak. :eek:

I order a lot online but haven't had anything stolen or delivered to a wrong address. Definitely going to consider having stuff shipped to my work...

It is indeed a drag to be taken advantage of. Eventhough the cost was minimal, it still sticks in my craw. First time something like this has happened. I am not surprised to hear so many horror stories though. My heart goes out to you Heiny. I would perserverate over that one for a long time I think.
