RT7s - to hold or to sell...that is the question

Hi folks...new to the forum and this is my first post...but I'm not new to Polk. Got my Polk RT7s back in the mid 90's and they are still great sounding, beautiful speakers. They've been my main speakers in my stereo and now my surround system, but alas they were bumped from that spot last week when I got a pair of Polk LSi15s. The LSi15s are amazing and match the LSi7s I use for surround speakers, and the new LSiC I ordered yesterday.

Anyway...what I'd love some input on is this. I really love the RT7s but I'm facing the dilemma of whether to sell them. They are in pristine shape and still sound like new. I haven't been able to find any hard data on what they'd fetch in terms of selling price, but from what little I've seen it sounds like it would probably be in the $150 range, or maybe $200 at the highest. There's no way I'd ever get speakers that sound that good for that little. Do you think they're worth holding on to? If I sell them, I'd like them to go to someone who will really appreciate them.

Thanks for your thoughts.

-Mark

I have to say if you love them keep them. Maby put them to use in another room of the house or maby your man cave.Sometimes we kick ourselves later for selling things.Just my two cents.

Thanks for your input, guys. I think you're both right. I'll hold on to them unless I absolutely need to sell them for the cash. I have plenty of other old toys that I can part with first. Thanks!

    +1.

I've owned the RT-7s. Very nice sounding. I sold mine for 100 bucks.

I don't miss them, but that's just because I have plenty of other speakers I like more.

Start a budget 2-channel setup elsewhere in the house or garage, whatever. There's an Adcom GFA-535 in our flea market that would be a good start.

My RT7s are worth more to me than they're worth on the used market. I will likely never sell mine and will use them in another system if they get "bumped" from my HT. They will likely serve duty as garage speakers someday. If they were worth what RT55 speakers bring, I would consider selling them.

Timely topic, I just sold my RT7's this morning for $125. The guy that bought them was going back and forth between them and my RT35i's which I wanted $100 for. Was I sorry to see them go, you bet, but I had to thin the herd. Hope he enjoys them as much as I did. Now the RT35i's will do front duty in the recroom system.

Didn't know you had RT35i's FS too? Did I miss that?

    H9 and DSkip,

Rest assured, you didn't miss anything, as the 35i's were never listed as FS. I did have 2 complete Polk 5.1 systems and had to thin the herd. I listed one in the 'For Sale Classified' section on Jan 3rd consisting of RT7's, CS400i, RTi38's, & PSW450. Following Rooftop59's excellent advice I decided to split the system up and sell pieces seperately. The RT7's sold this morning to a non forum member, rengnath is coming over tonight for the 400i, and H9, you're coming up Sunday for the 38's. The guy that came today just wanted to compare my 35's to the 7's as he wasn't sure which one he'd prefer because I told him the 38's were spoken for. I'm going to keep the 35's as fronts, CS245i, RT25i, and PSW350 in the recroom system for the kids. All I have to do now is sell the PSW450. Don't worry, if I decide to sell the 35's I'll PM you both.
