Setup looks just as simple and awesome as usual . I find it amazing how some of the smallest components can make such a big difference lol. You wouldnt think those things (dac, pre, etc) cost nearly as much as they do lol..."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Thank you.
Yep, the Placette at a $1020 was an especially hard pill to swallow, but worth every penny.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

Very nice Steve!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Thank you fellers!
Went hunting for some "old" music yesterday at cduniverse, picked up:
Kansas -Masque
Kansas -Song For America
Prism -Small Change
Lake -I/Paradise Island (hopefully this cut will sound better than the CD I have)
Chickenfoot (ok, this isn't "old")
I'll get these ripped once they arrive. I ditched all of my "greatest hits" CD's in favor of getting each individual album. Luckily I never much liked Greatest Hits type albums--so i don't have many to replace.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

That's my kind of system! Really impressive. Nice & clean.
I like the camera move from standing to crouching! -

He wasn't crouching, his wife hit him with a gut shot and told him to stop farting around and go do something.HT SYSTEM-

That camera does terrible in low light--I need a better one, with a better microphone. IIRC, it's a Canon 590is??Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Very nice set-up Steve,I'd like to get my ears on your Carbon 7s
-
Thanks Mike. They are an easy speaker to listen to.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Do you have a sub in the mix to compliment the 7s ?
-
Knowing Steve I doubt there's a sub in the mix. You'd be surprised at how good well designed bookshelfs can reproduce the full sound spectrum in a medium sized room...
-
No sub. The Carbons probably hit the mid to upper 30's with room reinforcement. They don't sound at all like a small speaker. The room is overall 18ft x 36ft. The livingroom area of the great room is about 18ft x 16ft.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Amazing, that just makes me want to get a listen on even more.

Mike, they are a laid back speaker in the treble--that turns some people off--but I like it. Makes for hours and hours of listening without fatique. The mid range is extrememly nice and well integrated. Fritz uses a very simple crossover with no inductors inline with the tweeter. They're both Scanspeak drivers; 7" carbon blended mid woofer (hence "carbon 7"), and IIRC the tweeter is Scanspeaks D2900E...cloth dome. but I'm not certain. They do a VERY good disappearing act in the room. They do need some space from the backwall, or they'll get thick in the mid-bass (they're rear ported). I found 16" to work fine, at a minimum. In the video, they are 17" and 17.5" (1/2" toe-in) from the rear wall.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I bet the Benchmark and Placette are perfect compliments to the 7's. It's a nice, simple, well-thought-out system. I like it a lot.

The combo works well together. Thank you! You definitely wouldn't want to pair overly-warm stuff with the Fritz Carbons---your oatmeal would start to get lumpy. Are the Scanspeaks really good speakers? -
Scanspeak isn't a speaker maker per say, they make parts, tweeters, drivers. Many higher end speakers use their tweeters and woofers.HT SYSTEM-

Gotcha. I kept seeing that name pop up. -
Looking good!Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.
