I'm new to the vintage Polks. Just got into them mid December. I was wondering what the difference is and why are different models used in the same cabinets on the Monitors, SDA's, RTA's etc...
6503, 6511, 6600?

Sorry for the stupid question.
Main system:
Denon PRA-1500, Denon POA-2400, Denon TU-660, Denon DCD-2560, Denon DVD-2910, Denon DRS-640, Denon DP-30L II w/DL-301 mc cart, BSR EQ-3000, DCM Timeframe 600's

    Hi CW,
Not a stupid question at all. The differences between drivers have to do with the electrical and mechanical characteristics needed for each, different speaker design. Each speaker design requires a specific driver be built to compliment the specifications wanted, the size of the enclosure, number of additional drivers, etc. A speaker is really a tuned instrument, each piece working with all the other components to produce the final sound. Change one of the components and the whole sound is altered.
    Cheers, Ken

    Kenneth,

Thanks for the post on driver upgrade's or replacement of them..I was thinking of upgrading the driver's in my Monitor 70's.And have been checking up on some really nice one's..But too replace all 8 of them would cost just as much as just replacing the whole speaker..

    Thanks, Ken.

Is that the reason for having two diff models in same cab like in an SDA2 having a 6503 AND 6511? Diff frequencies going to the two diff models?
