Remote starting with proximity key

I've had remote start on all of my other vehicles, and am getting the itch in my current one. It's a 2007 Infinit G35x, and the thing that has me scratching my head is the use of the proximity key.

I'm wondering how this works. I've heard so many answers, and lots of people saying incorrect things as well. Not to mention, I haven't found any good, current threads. Just people from 2008 saying they say a video on youtube and it worked.


So... I absolutely love the ability to put a keyfob in my pocket and never touch it all day. I understand that I will need to have the fob in my pocket for use to start. This isn't the end of the world. What I do not want to do however is lose the ability to just walk up to my car and push a butto nto unlock it. Or to open my trunk by just pushing the button (I work in service, so convenient trunk access is actually a big deal to me)

Anyone here an installer, or have something like this installed in a push-button start car w/proximity keys? I've had plenty of experience with everything else, so I'm not looking for any "My viper is awesome" posts unless it directly relates to my circumstance.

Looking on directechs wiring info, I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

I tried to login to the forum, which I haven't done so in probably 3+ years and wasn't able to. Tried logging in to another installer only forum and couldn't do that either...

I don't think we ever had one come in our shop for remote start, so I couldn't tell ya.
