Hello all,

I'm sure you vets are used to seeing >20 post newbies every year in your forums around the holidays, but I want to say that I have learned more in the last couple weeks than I ever thought possible...thanks to you. Basically, all my audio equipment is new to me within the last year so I am just figuring things out. I'm starting to get the desire (and budget) to really appreciate quality audio and hope this is the start of some fun. Thanks in advance to all for advice and patience.

Paul

Thanks, F1nut. I took your suggestion and replaced the jumpers on my M50's with 14g speaker wire. Will do it on the M70's when I get the chance. M50's sound amazing listening to records. I figure anything that improves the system even a little is worth it.

    Welcome to Club Polk.

Never be afraid to ask questions! Also as an FYI using an advance google search of this site is the best way to see if your question has already been answered . Welcome to the audio experience.

And remember the most important part: It only matters how it sounds to you!

    Thanks!

Reading through the forum and seeing some people's setups is a little intimidating, but I will take your advice and do a little research before posting questions.

First, welcome to the club. Don't let others gear list intimitate you, everyone starts out somewhere in this hobby and wallets come in different sizes for everyone. We are a friendly bunch of audio misfits and only bite on occasion. Ask what you will, and don't forget about the search feature at the top if you want to look up something and read up a bit.

I agree with Tony. I started out when I first joined with a set of Monitor 60's, CS2, R50 surrounds and a Integra DTR 5.9. All my wire/cables were monoprice.

Over the past 2 years I acquired a dedicated amp, better speaker wire, better rca interconnects and better speakers, mostly thanks to getting deals from Polkies on this thread. So while right now you might be intimidated by some folks gear lists, keep in mind that its not a race and that your now part of a family that takes care of one another and gives great deals!

Welcome to CP! Someone posted a cool google tip to search any website searches to keep it limited to that website. So if you wanted m50 posts, search on google: m50 site:www.polkaudio.com
Works great. Go as far as you like here, and I agree your ear is the only opinion you need to worry about.

The world of audio is very expansive. You are entering only one little portal here in "hi-fi" land. Respect those who enter the other portals and learn something from them. We used to call it hi-fi but then they came up with this stereo business and I had to buy another speaker. Things will constantly change so be rigidly flexible. Be willing to listen to those with experience and be willing to listen to ALL MUSIC. Now, does anyone have a routine to convert my 8 tracks to FLAC files.
