Curious - SDA-CRS+ Cabinets

Has anyone ever built better SDA-CRS+ cabinets? I mean, it's not the best looking cab (so says my wife), and it's literally just a box. It would probably look better with some rounded edges and a new grille. I don't know, I'm not a carpenter at all but it seems like it would be incredibly easy given this speakers design.

I have built cabs to replace monitor series speakers in the past and they sounded just as good and looked tons better.

As long as you stick to the internal dimensions along with speaker and PR placement it should be fine.

    This should be good.

So keep the internal dimensions the same? Wouldnt it just be easier to build a shell around it? I'm going to re-veneer mine. I've seen some beautiful works of art on this site with crs+.

I'm pretty sure that this has been discussed before here, and I also believe that you would have to have the specs for the driver cutouts, IIRC they have a slight angle to them, at least the SDA driver. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime inn, as I'm unsure if this is possible...

Cool, glad to hear someone else has tried it and had success. I knew it couldn't be harder than it looked. I've taken the speakers apart about a thousand times and keep thinking to myself how easy it would be to build new, better looking cabs myself. When I was into car audio as a teenager, I always built my own sub enclosures out of 3/4" MDF to the correct airspace required for the sub (using some old software that I can't recall the name of)

I may take a crack at it!
