Makes me glad my Control Center is sitting behind a large UPS with plenty of power protection. Would hate for anything to happen to it!
Being in California, I would place it inside a well padded case to protect in from earthquakes. The Gear... I got some time to open and investigate the subwoofers further. Good news: both amps work fine. Bad news: one woofer has a spider that has literally disintegrated about a centimeter from the center of the voice coil. There are pieces inside that rattle. Ha, I wont be able to glue this one! The remaining drivers look like they have all been repaired with some sort of translucent glue around the inner spider. One has a broken-off tinsel lead right at the voice coil, and could possibly be repaired. The lead is stuck in the glue however, making that difficult. The next woofer, also repaired with this glue, plays but I can hear some distortions from the coil scraping. Nice. The final woofer actually works fine, but within the glued spider, you can see that the tinsel lead has been "reattached" with a solid core winding around the voice coil. I suppose its been re-soldered. So yeahhhh - does anyone have any suggestions for replacement woofers? lol. 10" subs are everywhere nowadays, I'm sure I can find something from parts express or the like. Basically these all need new spiders and voicecoils.

That is a bummer on their conditions but like you said, Parts Express will have something that'll fit close enough. I wouldn't hesitate to go that route. Let us know later what you decided on whenever you do, OK?Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Yeah, I didnt have high expectations about the woofers. Im still amazed that the top boxes arent filled with blown mids and tweeters lol. I'm sure those woofers were completely abused. Aw well, it might acually be a system after I get some new woofs and an active crossover. No, its not an SDA solution, but I think it should still sound good in the meantime. Now to look for woofers!

Sorry to hear that. You might try to find out what the specs are for the 10" drivers from Polk. I would suggest you look around for one of the old Polk LSiW subwoofer enclosures that a lot of people sell on craigslist. Those subs were recalled by Polk due to amp problems and once gutted of the amp, Polk sold them off by the pallet. In San Diego, I see them listed all the time for $50 and that includes 2 x 10" sub drivers. Those might do the trick for you if you can locate them.____________________________________________________________

Thanks for the suggstion Dpowell! I'll shoot Polk an email and see if they'll send me specs. I found these woofers at MCM electronics also:
http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/55-1215
They have a 15% off coupon, along with free shipping through Jan 1st. Total is a little over 90 bucks for 4 of them. I'm not sure if they're the right fit, but look pretty decent. -
Here are some pix finally! Please excuse the mess of equipment and cables lol. They're not the greatest pix, unfortunately - just some quick ones with my phone. I have to get a new digital cam. So far, I'm enjoying the sound with all the drivers playing together. I made some jumpers going from the regular inputs to the SDA speaker inputs. The sound is detailed and smooth actually, with a nice big soundstage. I believe the SDA drivers are slightly different from the stereo midrange drivers. Since I need new subwoofer drivers, I'm using a big SVS tube subwoofer in the meantime, crossed over somewhere around 75Hz. Its a very musical sub, and blends quite well with the SRT satellites. I have the Sats sitting on top of the sub boxes, as intended. They do have a physical presence! lol I'm using them with my 110W Sansui AU-919 with no problems.

How does the subs in the SRT's perform? For a $10,000 set they don't look like anything special. -
The subwoofer enclosure is actually really well made, and includes a huge port that I didnt capture in those pictures. The two woofers arent visible from the outside; they're mounted inside the enclosures firing in front of the port/tube. The amps are pretty hefty for the time, a big bank of caps and a heavy transformer. Too bad the woofers are all destroyed - I cant tell you how well they perform.

The version of the SRT that sold for $10k came with two SDA controllers, one for the front left and right and the second for the rear SDA speakers. The original SRT sold for $8k and had more conventional non-directional surround speakers without SDA capability. But, paired with the right choice in associated equipment and having SDA operating both front and rear was something to experience.
