Looking at a pair decent condition. 50.00 what can u tell me bout them? What's the real diff. In the 5 Jr's. Need a bookshelf for bedroom.thanks just not familiar with these.

They're awesome. 50 is a good deal.

The jr's are just smaller, with a smaller passive radiator.

Not all 5 Jr's have a passive radiator only the 5JR+ has the same size passive as driver which is 6.5". Monitor 5, 5A, 5B have an 8" passive.

$50 for a pair of 5A's in good condition is a no-brainer.

Great Price. I paid $80 for mine. You can't beat them at that price or lower. 50 is a steal!

Plus, they sound "good" with most forms of amplification--a very "forgiving" speaker!

Well the 5a's didn't come about but a pair of 5jr+ did. Need to replace one tweet but fairly nice cosmeticly great price!!! Traded a tt I had no money in. Any good mods for these?

I've got a pair that I'm updating the crossover to the series 2 spec and using rdo198 tweets. Also, can use updated gaskets, dynomat, new binding posts, etc.

I've briefly examined the xovers and seemed to be a printed circut but either very small caps or they are hidden on the bottom inside the coil. What "updates" can be done. I get the tweets, Dynamated and the others. Also I am problerly wrong it sl2000 tweets replaced with the 194 instead 198 or does it matter?

The sl-2000 is replaced with the 194. The sl-3000 is replaced with the 198. Big Dawg is changing his crossover to be able to accept the 198.

If you aren't going to mess with the crossovers, just get the 194's. They sound a lot better than the stock sl-2000's.

Ah I see said the blind man. At least I had the tweets right, didn't realize he was changing the xovers. As I've never hears the sl2000's hard to deside on upgrade to 198's (considering cost) the sl1000 are in my rta 12b's and my 12c's came to me with the 194's already upgraded, and they are very nice improvment over the sl1000. I'll listen to the sl2000's than deside. These are not going to be used for "criticle" listening anyway. But dynamating and maybe spikes might be a good investment as I'm building stands for them. They will be located behind and above my 12c's in my bedroom. Driven by an old HK PA 2200 amp (about 150 w at 45 amps peak. That should drive them nicely I think.
